I've just been informed that two former Carlton premiership Captain have been included in the Subiaco Team of the Century. They are celebrating 100 years of playing at Subiaco Oval.

Mike Fitzpatrick was named as Ruck.

Brighton Diggins was named on the half back line.

A great honour for two champions of our club.

We have a lot to be thankful for from Subiaco club.

I missed Diggins in our list of WA players - when I posted about our deep connection with WA and the fact we have a high WA based club membership numbers.

Diggins is very under rated in our pantheon of greats - dont forget he was responsible for breaking a premiership drought of 23 years when he captained/coached our 1938 Premiership Side. :-D

His daughter also lit a match which resulted in removing Graeme Smorgan from the Board and paved the way to allow the secondment of Richard Pratt to the Presidency. 8)

Yes, Diggins was very much a 1930s version of Barassi. A champion from elsewhere coming to our club and breaking a premiership drought.

Let's hope three's a charm!

That is interesting because if I recall - when Haydn Bunton Jr started playing Haydn Sr used to whistle at Haydn Jr indicating which parts of the ground to run to.
