Fev should be signed up for at least 3 years with bad behhaviour clauses in it.

Fact is Fev is a big game player and if we make the finals he will be instrumental in carrying the team to premiership. No one we get in return for Fev will be worth the loss as only Franklin at the moment has that same ability to tear the game apart on the scoreboard.

If you look at all the big games Fevs been in he has been a standout - Wizzard Wok, Nab Cup, Blockbusters against Bummers & Filth and now the Big V. We are lucky to have a player of his talent with the rare ability to stand up when it counts and should secure that for the next 5 years if we are serious about premiership #17 and beyond

You don't trade your blue chip stock for a speculative 3 cent share.

I want to go to the footy to see Fev - He is our second best player and could have 7 years in him.

Despite being a flower every now and then he has done the hard yards in losing teams and deserves a chance to play finals for Carlton.

Besides that - unless we get Franklin or Pavlich there is NOONE worth trading him for. He is the BEST full forward that I have seen at Carlton in my 30 years of watching footy. and yes that includes Ditchburn, Sticks and SOS.

Fev will be a Hall of Famer one day he is that good.

Better than Ralph ( I never saw Galt) better than Minton Connell, Better than James Cook, Better than Rohan Welsh, Pearce the lot of them (I should qulify me Siticks and SOS comment by reiterating that he is a better FF than them - at this stage they are still better all round players in other positions)

In footy ability he's worth 2 top 10s
In mental ability he's worth pick 8 of the PSD.

Hmmmm, what to do........ :?

He is definitely worth 2 x Top 10 National Draft Picks.

This situation is definitely heading to "Mexican Stand Off Territory".

Fevola and his management will definitely be looking for a 3 year deal and the more goals he kicks this year the stronger his position will be.

Carlton will want to be seen to be acting firm.

Other clubs wanting to get in on the deal will have to come up with the currency (ie: 2 x Top 10 National Draft Picks) or be hoping that Fevola "stuffs up" between now and October.

Going to be a tense time.

He should be on a rolling 2 year deal - ie negotiate for 2 years and if he has met certain criteria at the end of year 1 he can exercise an option to renegotiate a nother 2 year deal which supercedes the 2nd year of the first contract.
If he does not meet performance criteria in year 1 then renegotiate in year 2.
The bonus for Fev is that if he does well he can get a pay rise every year. If he does not so well then at least he has another year to run on his contract.

Surely a nice backended 3 year deal is the go. Pay him the most when he is a vet. Throw in heaps of clauses about behaviour and so on...

Get him fired up. He deserves to finish his career with Carlton.

Sure he P1shed on a wall, shagged a girl that wasnt his wife, headlocked an irishman and went nuts with a fire extinguisher but hereally has been the best thing at the club during a dodgy period.

PS:- nobody has written "Tic Toc " in this thread about fev yet !?

If it is the negotiations over his contract that has brought about his current form .

You would hope these negotiations go on for ever

What I'm afraid of.

You'll see a lot of clubs throw the kitchen sink at him, I wouldn't be surprised if they were already thinking about ways to potentially fit him into their salary cap...

You wouldn't think of Fev as one to put the $'s before club loyalty, would you?! Once he knows his worth on the open market, who knows what is going to happen...

If a 24 y.o Judd is only worth pick 3, Kennedy and 20. I doubt we could get half that for FEV

Fev loves Carlton and he is performing...Dont trade him!

I agree don't trade him, but remember with Judd - West Coast could have gotten much more but they were over a barrel due to the fact that Judd had already picked Carlton and time was running out to do a deal.

Do a deal with Carlton before the deadline or lose him to the PSD for nix.

Fev won't have those same issues, as he isn't leaving for him home state - and doesn't have 'irreconcilable differences' with the club. If an other club was rorting Carlton to try and get Fev I'd like to hope he'd resign with us.

If he was to go though, Carlton would have as much as - if not more - than West Coast got for Judd. IMO anyway.

It always amazed me how this guy ever saw through those coke bottle glasses...

We've definitely had our fair share of awkward (for want of a better word) forwards in our day.
