Gimme a regular season match over some pointless exhibiton.

I have totally the opposite view. This game will be sensational and to see what is essentially an all-star game with a mix of carlton players playing will be great and an honour for the players

Yeah but the players wont be going at it full tilt as they would be in a match for premiership points. The concept surrounding these kinds of games is always good, but the product most of the time fails to live up to the hype - remember the World XI vs Australia cricket?

I dunno, its just my opinion, the whole all star concept is too American for my liking.

I agree it is an honor for Carlton players to be selected, I just hope that they can get out of it so we can be fresh to take on the Lions.

The Sheedy article in the Heraldsun re "Resurrction Time for Fevola" or something like that, he mentions the the name of Murphy as a kid who could be playing...maybe he was in the squad?

Just goes to show Murphs is up there in their thinking.

Congrats to Waitey, Fev and Juddy. Vin would be proud if he was hear; I'm sure he'll be watching from somewhere.

Always a privelege to have Carlton players in the team.

I remember the 1995 Carlton team, and bragging how many All Auistralians and State players we had in that team; something like 9 or 10.

Bragging rights. Flying the Flag. Painting it Navy Blue.

It's great to read how much the selection experts (Gerard Healey and co) and opposition supporters admire, respect and revere Waite moreso than a lot of the TC posters; some TC posters stupidly suggesting Waitey doesn't have a footy brain. Pffffft. What planet?

He is the SOV, he's born and bred to live, think and eat footy.

Judd, Fevola...say no more.

Long live the Bluebaggers.

Jamison, Bower, Gibbs, Murphs, Kreuzer... will be State players one day....and so would Carrots when he improves his kicking over the next preseason.

Beat me to it, but yes.
This was touted from the start, that Vic has none of the elite rucks of the comp.
I see Heath Shaw`gets a mention. Maybe Grigg should have one as well, seeing as he towelled him up a couple of weeks ago. Or was it Bower? Can't remember.

I congratulate our players but hope to hell they all walk away unscathed.

Grigg was tagging Heath Shaw - unusual to see that in our forward 50 but it was a smart move and certainly paid off. Given the negative comments on Ratten's first few games it was great to see. I'm sure nobody can remember doubting Ratten now.

I'm happy to see Waite recognised but I reckon Troy Chaplin would be a better pick at CHB.

Bit OT but not a bad effort for Foley from the Tigers to get a gig in that midfield. Pretty good effort for a young bloke off a rookie list!!!

I wish some people on this site would come to grips with the fact that both of these sentiments are not mutually exclusive.

They're pretty decent sides aren't they. Having said that, I fail to see how Lindsay Gilbee missed selection for the Vics. There seems to be a lack of small defenders, particularly given the ground level talent the all stars have in their forward line. Sewell and Dal Santo don't really play as defenders but one of them will probably end up there. Should be an interesting game.

yep agreed, gilbee should have been in to stop someone like sewell having to play half back flank.

Could someone shoot Sheedy a copy of us v Dees Rd 22 last yr - that's about the intensity I want in this game.

Nice for our boys to be recognised, but if any of them are injured this site will be in melt down.......

Judd shouldnt be playing

Big V bond for Waite, Scarlett

Victorian defenders Jarrad Waite and Matthew Scarlett were surprised and excited to discover they will share a special link that spans 37 years if they're selected to take on the Dream Team at the MCG on Saturday night.

Gary Ablett's withdrawal from the Hall of Fame Tribute match with a calf strain leaves 25-year-old Waite and Scarlett, 28, as the only second generation members of the Victorian squad.

Going to be a great experience for all those involved, hope all our players make the most of it :-D

Looks like Waite will be going with Richo, Scarlett of Franklin and Croad vs Pavlich. Some interesting matchup's. I would have preferred Scarlett vs Pavlich, Croad vs Richo & Waite vs Franklin but I guess Thompson wants to have a look at the Geelong/Hawthorn matchup.
