Maybe he wants other clubs to go down the St Kilda route. I think its a discussion piece, no more.

All the more reason to ignore him, then.

Worsfold is an extremely overrated coach. I reckon Carlton would come close to pinching a flag if we had Kerr and Cousins supporting Judd. He was a one trick pony.....When the going gets tough, send Adam Hunter to the forward line. As much as I don't like him, the best coach in the business is Mark Williams IMHO of course. PA have been right up there since 2002 and their 2008 momentum is just starting to kick in. Collingwood will go hell for leather in acquiring his services when appropriate.

You need to remember that not only is Mark Fine a st Kilda supporter but he is also in his early forties AND went to Mount Scopus college where it was 30% St Kilda, 40% Carlton, 10% Collingwood and 10% the rest .
So imagine growing up in the 70's and 80's as a saints supporter and only beating carlton once every 6 years, all your classmates celebrating flags and winning spoon after spoon.. He is very biased when it comes to carlton and although he is an entertaining host he has no credibility or impartiality.

You might like to check your math here, unless of course you went to Mt Scopus also.

With the situation the Eagles are now in, we will see just how good of a coach Wosha is. He was blessed with one of the best midfield combinations and now its gone and he going to have to rebuild this side. I have no doubt he is a great coach but we got Ratts and we got to give him a chance

Not a fan of Mark Fine but you would have to think that Swann and Pratt would be looking at whose around at the end of Rattens contract amongst the big name coaches...
I like Brett Ratten who coaches like he played with integrity and honesty but have always felt he has been appointed as a caretaker during the initial rebuilding period and would have to get some seriously good results to keep the job longterm...hope he does...

I'm sure that Swann is keeping a very close eye on Ratts. A 2 year deal suggests that it's Ratt's job to prove his worth. I'm pretty sure we all hope he does - he's as navy blue as anyone.

But making such an early call on Ratts is just stupid. Is Mark Thompson a good coach? He built a team that's now dominating, but here's his record:

5th, 12th, 9th, 12th, 4th, 6th, 10th, 1st.

The early call on Bomber would have been that he doesn't know what he's doing.

Malthouse did 7th, 2nd, 8th, 7th, 8th and 13th at the doggies. Pretty sure it was final 6 for those years too, so only one finals appearance in six years.

Maybe... just maybe... it takes a little time to learn to become an elite senior coach.

Timig is everything.....I'd want to be coaching carlton when Murphy, Gibbs, Kruezer etc all have 100 games under their belt and Chris Judd can afford to be played forward more than on the ball etc...
Thompson and Geelong had great luck with father/sons selections, no injuries, great CEO in Brian Cook and then having a ready made in Joel Selwood come along......everything just fell into place.....Thompson just had to guide the ship rather than do any major course altering.
Ratten needs some of that luck.....

I've said it before and I'll say it again - good coaches can win flags and great coaches can miss out. Just like players.

The list determines if you win a flag. Strength, speed, skill. Coaching is the icing on the cake. The Eagles had 12 premiership players with loads of finals experience yet when you take out 3 champions and include a couple on our side, the result does a 180.

Woosh over-saw a team run by a madman and self destructed because of it. I don't think he'd be ideal for us ATM.

Mark Fine is a good host, but as one eyed as we are on here.

I remember, about 12 months ago, he was absolutely giving it to us. He admitted then that he loved nothing more than seeing us in the position we were. He also said we were miles off it.

He also stated that again early in the year. Chris Judd would do little to turn that around.

I wish he would take a good hard look in the mirror.

Finey also said, that he hates us with a passion. Because we are arrogant. Because we have given it to the Saints for as long as he can remember.

He used to annoy me to no end. But now, the way I see it, I would much rather a man like he talk through his rose coloured glasses rather than a host who is more of a yes man there to please everyone.

After all, it his opinion, no matter how wrong we perceive it to be!

If Chris Judd felt Worsfold was that much better than ratten I'm sure he would make his thoughts known to the appropriate people at the appropriate time.
Likewise if he thinks much of a muchness.
