Can't remember his name, but the guy who hosted the post-match on SEN came up with a brilliant plan for the club:

Sack Ratts at year's end and chase John Worsfold to coach us.

Despite the lack of any evidence, this guy believes that Ratten can't coach us to a premiership, and that we should be 'ruthless' and chase Woosha

A couple of flaws with his brilliant plan:

1. After only one-third of a live season, it's impossibly early to have an opinion (especially as an outsider) of Ratts' capabilities. Although having us at 3-4 suggests he's got something.

2. Woosha would hardly be the top of anyone's must-get list for coaches. Yes, he won a flag. But if ever a team got over the line due to brilliant individual efforts, it was West Coast at the height of Judd's/Cousins/Cox's/Kerr's powers.

If this commentator wants to prematurely sack a coach, I reckon he'd do far better to put the spotlight on Mark 'Head Job' Harvey.

It was Mark Fine on "Fine's Final Siren"
(The filth illiterate's refer to him as "Viney")

Finey huh?

Is he the sort of person who comes out with shite like this just to get feral talkback callers in a frenzy... or would he genuinely believe that Carlton should dump Ratten for Worsfold?

Either way, he's a peanut.

What a drongo! He loves the attention, loves getting supporters all worked up so they call up and he then cuts them off when they make him look stupid! Stick it up him Ratts.

It was suprising to hear him say that as i can't see how you could make a call so soon.

Apart from that he was ok, and supportive of the Blues.

Maybe you should actually listen to what he was saying before you start abusing him. He was questioning Rattens ability to take the team to a top 4 power club and the ability to win premierships. He went on to say if Woosha came out of contract then perhaps Carlton should keep an eye on him because he thinks he is the kind of coach who could take us to a premiership winning side.

Of course it's simply to early to tell but i don't have a problem with what he was saying. Wasn't really putting Ratten down as a coach or anything...

Finey is one of the half decent hosts on SEN nowdays...

He should worry about St Kildas backyard a bit more than ours. Did he say the Saints should think about getting rid of Lyon and look at getting Worsfold????

If by half decent, do you mean like Connolly is half decent compared to Damian Drum, Neesham and the other duds who coached the Dockers?

Fine deserves to be abused for making that call when Ratten's coaching career is five minutes old.

Your attempt to defend him was ham fisted at best.

I found nothing wrong with what he said.

Footy is a ruthless sport and no one is safe, im sure if Richard Pratt and Swanny think they can land a better coach they will. I for one would love to see wosha coaching our club but more than happy to give ratts his chance.

Mark Fine happens to be one of the better sports show hosts around. He has come a long long way from his pre-radio days when he was somewhat of a nutter at the footy to say the very least(mad mad mad sainters supporter with one hell of a foul mouth). He cannot be faulted these days when it comes to being impartial, and he was in fact extremely complimentary of our club last night. If you ask me, he is one of the more enteraining and knowledgable guys on sports radio.

Disagree totally, I find him incredibly biased.

Finey doesn't have his own personal agendas and i have never found his opinions biased at all.

I personally didn't have a problem with what he was saying, i don't necessarily agree with it but at the same time i don't think Finey does either. He was simply throwing the idea out there to see what people thought.

It's not as if he was just saying it with no reasoning either, he mentioned how he used to be apart of Carlton and also asked if people would warm to the idea if he could lure someone like Kerr to the club with him.

Personally i would be very disappointed if we were to sack Ratten for Woosha, i don't know if Woosh's contract ends this year or not but lets say if both Rattens and Wooshs ended at the same time and Ratten was underachieving then of course i would consider it.

I don't think finey deserves to cop any slack for what he 'threw out there'. I have spoken to him personally and he he comes across as a good bloke.

To be fair though i think i fell asleep at some stage through his program so i may be missing a major point...

It's a opinion and of course like players if there is someone off contract when your coach is off contracted, you look at it and Ratten has 1 year still on his contract after this season. If we win 8 games this season and say 10 or 11 next year i guess they will decide if they will renew it or get someone with more experience like Woosha or anyone they think could get a flag.

I have a big problem with what he's saying. How on earth at this stage of Ratten's coaching career could he possibly know that?!!! Finey is an excellent host but that is plainly dumb if he was serious (I do realise though he likes to throw things out for discussion). Wonder if he said the same about Alistair Clarkson in his first season?

i'd say he would have said that. but he wouldn't have said that he's never seen his side win a premiership - so how the .... would he know?
