he will be gone for an automatic 2 games. thats 2 games coming up that we goona lose :(

If Fev is suspended he can still play for victoria, it won't count for that game.

For what its worth fev was very disapointing in the 2nd half tonight. Rats should have dragged him.

Pros:
Browne - Fantastic! Ratten-esque, will start in a back pocket and become a valuable midfielder
Kruezer - nice hands
Bower - very good
Overall - still a long way from our best team.

Cons
Our need for a CHF
Watching Kennedy blossom into exactly that
Skills. we can't kick
So long to a top 5 draft pick

Heavs you have to be joking re Carrots. The boy had 42 touches. I reckon at the most (I've had a coupla beers) 6-8 were clangers. He was awesome.

The wack on Selwood was terrible, but surely the lack of inside 50s in the second half should be taken into account when evaluating Fevola's performance.

there was very little in fev's tap on selwood. winded him (or he was playing for a free). having said that, he will prob go for a week. didn't think that there was anything more than a free kick in it.

Pros

the whole team combined well and played with a collective confidence and commitment

the backline was great - esp bower - growing in stature every game

i luv setanta anywhere on the park

judd's refusal to let the ball out at stoppages - eg his little foot tap tackle on another wce player while he was being scragged by a different wce player in the last qtr

jr first half (didn't see him touch it in the 2nd? not an inherent criticism though)

bucks talking up carlton on channel 7

CONs

schwarz - even though he was pro carlton, kept stating the bleeding obvious and sound like tim watson on high rotation

Pros:

1. The first 3 round aside (when we weren't fit), we seem to be developing standards. We haven't dropped "can't lose" games to the Dees or WC no matter what they threw at us. That is the first step to becoming a good side. The next step will be when we realise there is no reason to let a side that is 8 goals down off the canvas.

2. JR was immense in the first half. But please please get the guy a set shot coach. Very dubious technique he's got going there. Such a shame that when he finally had a shot without thinking about it, it was touched on the line.

3. Stevens was immense in the last 10 minutes of the 3rd quarter where we did our best to lose it.

4. Judd ... well, nuff said.

5. When it was all on the line at the start of the last quarter I can't believe how much pressure our backline soaked up - and there were some very young kids out there.

6. Gibbs was extremely composed I thought.

Cons:

1. IF we still had JK at CHF we'd be pushing top 4. It wasn't the wrong decision, but it did hurt watching him single handedly drag WC into the game.

2. If Lynch wasn't a complete fruit loop in front of goals it might have been a different story. But I'll take what I can get after the last 7 years in WA.

3. Fev let himself down.

4. This will sound harsh but I'd rather Carrots got 20 possessions where he doesn't pad his stats with 3 unnecessary handballs in every passage of play.

I've matched you on the grog count!

I'm not saying the clangers - I'm just saying they were bler stats. Backwards or sideways handballs to a bloke under pressure so he gets a second stat back. He just wasn't damaging. Grigg probably had 12 stats for the game but I reckon every stat started an attack for us.

He kicked one OOB on the full but generally found a teammate by hand or foot.

What a roller coaster - so many pros, so many cons. For 5 years we have known a team that would've rolled over and lost. Finally, some players took a stand and said "No!" to losing tonight. That's the main pro.

PROS

1. Guys that look forward when they get the ball, and break lines - Simmo, Bower, Eddie Betts, Stevens, Judd

2. Bower - defining moment when he decided to look up rather than sideways. Solid. Lot to learn. Lot to like

3. Waite - Continues to impress at CHB. Kudos to Ratten for insisting on CHB - the key is that he doesn't have to think. When he thinks, his brain melts.

4. Stevens - had a rotten start, looked like a passenger, but provided leadership when required.

5. The ability to stem the tide - thanks mainly to Judd

CONS

1. Guys that look sideways and backwards immediately, and are too scared to take the game on - Gibbs, grigg, and plenty of others. Almost cost us the game. Confidence boys!

2. Our forward line - without Fev it will be terrible. We need a CHF badly

3. Josh Kennedy - One game like this and he would never have been on the table. ONE GAME! Alas. It's ironic that Judd probably won us the game, but we sacrificed the CHF we need to take us forward to get him. Pyrrhic victory?

4. Ruck - Get Hampson in. We have a long term solution, but no short term solution. 2 weeks in a row - murdered! We need third man over the top or Hampson.

5. PLayers that disappeared when it was crunch time but who bob up when all's well - Scotland, Russel, Carraz to an extent, and plenty of others. Stand up when it counts boys.

Pro- Wayne Hughes proved a lot of doubters wrong tonight. It takes a few years to develop players. There is not enought space here to list the players he recruited who played well

Con- Our Structure with Fev as a lone forward holds back our long term development. Move Waite Forward and let O'hailpin develop as the Center Half Back. He can do it. It may cost us a game early but for the good of the team he has to play there. There is no one on our list who can fulfill the CHF role in the next 2 years, apart from Waite, so end this short term tactic of Waite at Center half Back and move him to CHF.

We can not win finals with Carazzo. Pat on the back for getting 42 possessions but most of them either don't penetrate or miss target. It is harsh but I hope we make the tough calls that need to be made

More Pro's
Eddie's W sign when he put the sealer into the third deck. Take that you bandwagon flowers.

Setanta's gaelic kick up to himself. That got me hard and moist at the same time.

Disagree - Waite is Centre Half Back and should play there for the next 8 years. He is playing his best footy.

To be a CHF, you need to be able to:
1) Kick - Waite can't, simple.
2) Have a footy brain - Waite doesn't, simple.

Great move Ratts. CHB for 8 years

I have been suss on Carrots this year but tonight he played a fantastic game. Had penetration in his game. ALways worked ot provide an option once he had given it off. Clean hands. Great positioning and he has the ability to dominate in the back pocket if the opposition try to drag him out to of the play.

Fantastic game.

How was satanta;s footwork. Shame he didnt kick the goal but probably team rule is to dish it off in that position> Gutted bentick missed.

On Satanta - he is rarely wastes a possession. Just takes his time chooses the right option and kicks well.

When the chips were down tonight, Carrots and Scotland weren;t in the TV screen tonight. Judd Stevens Simpson and Bower dragged us out of the mire and then those 2 bobbed up again.

Not saying Carrots didn;t play a great game - he was very useful. But still, they need to stand up when the chips are down.

I am glad we agree that that was the greatest of pros.

Tonight just proved that you can't judge a young key position player by his first couple of seasons. I hope a few of us understand that now.

But at the end of the day, Judd brought us the self belief that we are good enough to win a game like that. Without that we would have lost no matter how well JK had played if he was still wearing navy blue.

Nevertheless, my god we need a CHF!!! I hope our draft scouts are working overtime.

Irish - cracking game, back to 07 form
Wiggggooooooo - nuff said
Judd - flower he stood up when he needed to
Stevo - nice effort
Bower - good again. Improving each week.
JR - IMproved again. The irony of Armstrong kicking into him on the mark ... priceless.

Cons -
Stopping and high fiving when 8 goals up.
JK - sad. Like Tommi, the boys getting round him at the end made me tear up too. Why couldn't he pull a standout game for us like that!
Channel 7 - Rosa has been important in the last quarter? WTF are you on Bruce you old queen. Rosa is the biggest fraud since Chad Felcher. Both those flower got found out as front runners tonight.
Carrazo. A lot of stats to nowhere. I just don't see what he brings to the table over AB.

Sherman :?:

Others have praised Setanta's game, but I didn't rate it all tonight.

He's better down back, but a good player will take him to the cleaners when Jones kicked one on him whilst WCE were struggling.

I have my heart in my mouth when Setanta has to spoil or run the ball out of the backline.

I can't wait for Thornton to come back.

Great to see Kennedy do well.

Bower is a gun.

Great closing speed and reach when he wraps himself around an opponent like SOS before he spoils the ball. Bower looks like SOS reborn when he takes off with his funny running style and doesn't get caught. :-D

Browne can play.

Great to see Kennedy play well. :) :(

We will need Hampson against Brisbane's giant rucks and might move Kreuzer forward to cover for that idiot Fevola.

Russell smothering the Armstrong kick closed the book on that mistake.

AWWWWWW, Stevens. 8)

Carrazzo is doing a great job in the absence of Houlihan, but his kicking still lets him down.

Great to get a win without Walker, Bannister, Thornton, Hadley, Hartlett and Houlihan. 8)

A good side would have smashed us.
