If Carlton were to play on Good Friday what would your response be?

Personally I'd love there to be a twilight match involving Carlton on Good Friday. If it was tied in with the Good Friday Appeal then all the better.

I would go to the game and take a TV and watch them on that as well.

would be great for us and great for football people who are gaainst it are silly coz they r trying to impose their views on others about waht the day should mean if we want to go to the footy on good friday y should we be stopped!

Is this because you go to church? What if it was a twighlight game?

How about listening on the radio?

kk I do go to church and funnily enough I just spoke to my mum and raised the issue with her about Good Friday footy.

Now my mother is as devout as you can get and she said no if it was on during the day, but fine if it was at night.

I asked why she would think that given that it is Good Friday, the holiest day on the Christian calendar and she said because as long as you respect the crucifixion of Christ, which in our mass tends to finish about 5.00, you should be okay!

Suffice to say I was gobsmacked.

I love God and Jesus and I love my Blues, so having said that, count me in wojee for a twilight game only.

so because your mum says it's ok then it's fine by you?

I thought you would determine your own decisions when it comes to religion ie. it's a personal thing.

+1 for Good Friday Football.

If people don't want to participate in going or watching the football then good on them, i don't have a problem with that. But i'm sure it could pull a massive crowd of people who are willing to attend and support football on good friday.

It wasn't so much that she said it was okay, but my opposition to Good Friday has always been about playing during the day as I believe that this is a time for reflection of the sacrifices that Christ made for us all.

A night game doesn't impinge on this time, for me, anyway.

And whilst not fashionable especially given my age, what my mum thinks of me is something that impacts on me.

I don't go to Carlton games played on Easter Sunday as this to me is family time or Mother's Day for obvious reasons.

I voted that I'd watch the match on TV mostly because I'm in Sydney (living vicariously through this site, wouldn't you know), and can't make it to many matches each year.

If I lived in Melbourne, I'd definitely go to that match.

Forget Good Friday, it isn't right in my opinion that Essendon* and Collingwood get repeated access to the Anzac Day match.



It would have been the perfect opportunity this year for the league to build up another rivalry- the Carlton vs Richmond rivalry - had they given the Anzac Day match to the Blues and the Tigers.


Richmond is celebrating their 100 year anniversary in the league this year, but apparently that isn't as important as giving prime access to the league's favourite Melbourne clubs- Essendon* and collingwood.

Preferential treatment to Essendon* and Collingwood?

Plus, we're not all Christians.

With all due respect DUC, you most certainly do not speak for us all on that matter. As much as it's an important day to those of your faith, Christians must also understand that many others believe it's a total load of bollocks. Each to his own, and accordingly, why the beliefs of some should dictate whether there's a game of footy played is mind-bogglingly irrational in my opinion.

So, let's get it done already; it's inevitable, and I'd rather us be involved than some other mob.
