Yes.

Practice the kicking on goal though son! Jesus Christ.
He needs to string some good games together.

What a joke.
When are people going to stop wrapping players in cotton wool all their lives?! Regardless of whether they are sponsored by us or otherwise.
A flat out 'he's shit' is one thing (and yes I've said this before) but some people are stating constructive criticism in regards to Russell's shortcomings on the field...
..and instead of dealing with the issues these people are bringing up - it's a lot easier to bag out the poster full stop.
This isn't directed at any one person - more directed at people who love to give their opinions as 'the correct one', and choose to belittle or simply dismiss the poster that begs to differ.
Who is the childish one then?!
Are we aloud to express opinion without being attacked with no rebuff on our points whatsoever? Or must everybody toe the line of the majority opinion in order to have their views appreciated...
Makes TC appear as less of a forum, and more of a 'toe the line or your out' clique.

i havent seen too much constructive criticism of his game or skills - what i have seen is sheep jumping on a rotting bandwagon trying to be cool doing what they think is the "in" thing.

criticism of JR was warranted a month ago - but the past 3 weeks JR has shown much improvement and for that warrants praise.

I am in no way saying JR is awesome and is the best player in the world - but his effort and development should be commended and supported not continually rubbished by rubbish posts.

I cant see why people are expecting him or us for that matter to be world beaters with such an inexperienced list - relax , sit back and enjoy the ride - its a bumpy one but as long as the boys try their guts out and play with passion and pride then we should be happy - you cant bemoan skill errors from kids this early in their careers - they need more time.

all we can ask for is improvement and right now JR is showing that.
are you like JR's brother or sth

Please bear in mind that we do on occassion have players friends or family visit here...and who knows, there may even be the odd player visit as well.
good point

You can't be a real supporter, you don't hang shit left right and centre on our entire playing list.

How about giving the boy a break? Yes he has taken longer than we would like to develop. His fault? The club's fault? Perhaps a combination?

But this year we have a completely different set of parameters....new coach, new assistants, new training regimes, new playing personnel....

Jordy has been given slightly more opportunity this year...and each week has shown a little bit more. Gee, he still made mistakes? Fancy that.

But how about we focus on the improvements? His more aggressive running this week. Those crunching tackles he laid.

I can remember the "supporters" near me who wanted players like Sexton to be culled from the list 'coz they'd "never make it"...

Maybe he won't improve fast enough for the footy club....but gee it must be harder knowing your own supporters are so hard.

QFT. Oh, you are wise Mrs. Caz.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...Why can't you just say that then?

Forget words like pathetic, garbage and joke and just say you think he's struggling, it was a poor attemp at kicking for goal and his skills may not be up to it. I dont have a problem with you saying that.

Agreed, comments don't need to be lowered to that standard. On the flipside, it can be said that the comments have been said by one of the more passionate supporters I know (despite the negativity) - someone who wears their heart on their sleeve and therefore can make rash comments as such.

I reckon there is - there are quite a few posters on here that love nothing more than 'tsk tsk'-ing people with different opinions to them, often in what seems to be a condescending tone, like they are the fortunate ones to be of the 'correct' opinion...

...similarily, I believe there is a 'itchy trigger finger brigade' - who like to rubbish players and the like at the drop of a hat, only to quickly sing their praises like a fan club member when they string a few good games together.

I'd like to think I'm a member of neither of these groups.

All said and done though, this has to be said.

JR got a lot more possessions in the Navy Blue yesterday than I did.

How do Jordan Russell and Kade Simpson compare at similar stages of their career? Simmo went statless until his 4th game IIRC and I'm fairly confident I can remember quite a few posters adamant that he was never going to make it. Is there really no chance Russell will follow a similar, but slower progression to becoming a quality player? Fact is as much as you may hate it some guys do take their 50-60 games to get comfortable. Jordan's tackling was exceptional on the weekend - if Fev set up 3 shots on goal for us from tackles we'd be creaming our daks about how he'd turned the corner and should be signed up for life. I think he's in our best 22 and it is no waste at all to play him for all of 2008 to see if he can continue his improvement.
