It would break my heart to watch Fev playing for someone else and banging them in from 60m on the boundary whilst at the other end we had another skinny 18yo getting his @rse handed to him by Mal Michael etc. Keep Fev and get good kids as well , it doesnt have to be an either/or.

We should trade Fev for an early pick and then we can get Hurley. This would be a direct swap for a player who has 3 years of football left in him with a player who has 13 years.

People who say sign him up now think about the future not the present. Would we have won games without Fev this year, the answer is simple....NO!

In the future we need to win games without him because that is when we will be grand final contenders.

Its really a difficult question isnt it. :?

On the one hand you have a gilt edged marquee player who can rip the heart out of any side in the competition - does he have 3, 4, 5 or even 6 years left in him - who knows.

On the other hand you have list management issues, bringing on youth, where will we be in 3 years time??? - challenging for the flag (I hope we are 8) ).

In the past we had no succession planning - we had Kernahan, Bradley, Silvagni, Koutoufides all playing till at least their mid 30s - and no logical replacements coming through (hard to replace superstars like that).

Do we do with this with Fevola? or do we trade him whilst he still has currency? Tough questions and no easy answers.

Thats what we have got smart operators like Swann and Icke running the show now.

We had succession planning in the football department, remember Wayne Brittain!! Now I'm sure we dont want to reopen that can of worms!!!

I would hate to see Fev in another jumper and I'd be looking after him with a decent contract......

Ok he is a goose but there is something very special about Fev bit like there was with Brent Crosswell.......I hated seeing Crosswell play for Nth and it would take some of the enjoyment out of the game for me if Fev wasnt wearing the No 25 for Carlton.

A lot of female supporters including mums that I know don't like him and think he is a bad role model for their kids.

Ah, the old role model line. It took a while for it to appear in the thread but here it is.

I say they are bad mothers for telling their kids that Fev's a role model.

I like a bad mother.

Combine them with my evil thoughts and kinder drop off becomes a great way to start the day.

Sticks kicked 729 from memory. Fev will get nowhere near this but I would be real happy to be proven wrong.

Fev a powderkeg. He will self-destruct again as sure as god made fanny apples. 1 year deal for mine.

Fev's not going anywhere.... 8)

Lets not kid ourselves.... One year will lead on to another and before you know it we're 5 years down the track and all this trade Vs Keep will be meaningless chit chat.

Let me be proven wrong but there is no way Fev will be on a straight out 1 year contract....
People might read this as the club standing firm BUT come 12 months done the track it could be Fevola who holds all the Aces.
IMO neither want this to happen now or in a years time.

Fev 2 years a certainty at the very least... My call anyway

Talk of trading him is Crap. for the first time since Jezza we have a potential 100 goal a season forward. Now we have a midfield capable of feeding him, and there are some who would trade him for a kid.He has at least 3 more years to go. If he did leave it would be to the filth or aints or even caro's tigers, how would we feel watching him kick the ton for them? If we had'nt had him playing the last 2 weeks we would still be winless. Judd or no Judd. He is essential to us making the finals in the next couple of years.

It wouldn't bother me because he will be at the Tigers injured with bad groins and can't run fast or jump anymore.

I believe he is awesome now and maybe will have one more awesome year, but my basis is:
Past his peak, groins are gone, his leap will be smaller, will lose his X-Factor, will be slower and find it hard to chase, will not be as influential and will crack the sh*ts more because he is frustrated.

We need to find a new game plan to get goals and not rely on Fev or else when we should be ready to reach a grand final (3 years) we will need to change our game plan because we have relied on an aging player who is past it.

We need to learn from Whitnall & McKernhan.

Fevola is the only player in our side who can kick 5 Goals plus. Future Mangement doesnt mean we need to get rid of him but rather to bring up kids who can learn from him and play alongside him until he is retired.

Keep Fev a Blue for life. its not worth removing him. when he gets older, use him as a decoy to bring others into play, he will still be handy or use him off the bench.

So if all this is so obvious, why would a team give us a first round pick, capabale of getting us Hurley, for him?
