The difference in the development program this year from previous years is pretty simple and obvious; JUDD.

Heads down, bums up approach, no nonsense, and do everything possible to keep your body in perfect condition. The rest comes with time.

Do you think Swanny would have some knowledge of Colonwood's programme?

Do you think the appointment of Teagey and Skinny and the time they're spending with the kids is a coincidence?

The most astonishing thing about the Carlton development program is the ad hoc way it seems to have been staffed. I think Teague may well become a very good developemnt officer, but he wasn't first choice, McCartney was (I think). That's no big deal if Teague is the best man, but I wonder would he have got the job if he hadn't been there. Make him development officer by all means if he shows the aptitude and skills, but give him someone else with experience in development to help, and have him dedicated to that. He is also coach of the Ants, with no previous coaching experience (second choice as ratts wanted Mitch) and he is also captain of the Ants.

He may well do any one of these jobs well, but to have him in all three seems ridiculous and more attuned to Carlton in the past than going into the future. And to have no-one with experience involved with the Ants coaching or development is very, very strange. I would have thought development would have been a priority rather than an afterthought, tacked on to playing and coaching duites

That's true Jack, but I am sure he is not there when Ants games clash with Blues games and I would expect the MC to be at Ants games when able anyway. I just find having one guy wearing three hats, and not having previous experience in any of them to be an odd way to go forward. I'd rather the Ants have a non playing coach, and I 'd rather the Club have a separate development officer
