Ratten's coaching disrespects the difficulty of playing at Center Half Forward.

Ratten's coaching realises that Waite is the most important member of the backline and that nobody is likely to be the Pavlich/Buddy/Brown CHF that this board seems to think exists on the list somewhere.

Setanta to the video room to work it out.

Waite playing in the backline has been great. Why move him?? Finally our backline looks good. Finally Waite looks good.

Moving him back to his old position would be a step backwards.

I see fev as our Centre Half Full Forward.

Hartlett needs games at the highest level to show if a) he can stay fit, and b) he's a viable option.

I would play him there for a long stretch to see what he can do. Sadly, I don't think Setanta is the option. Everyone knows his effort is unmatched, but to get to the next level we need quality to go along with it. Harts has flashed enough (for me) to suggest that if he can stay fit he could be the answer there.

Hope he comes in for Setanta this week.

What would you do if Harts got another hamstring injury?

Best option for CHF on our list? Fisher.

Proven track record, and a very good mark.

Agree he takes a good mark but he is too light for a genuine CHF and would get knocked around and injured more than he does now.

Prefer him as a third tall marking option on a lesser player...

I like Kruezer for CHF however the coach sees him as ruckman which is his call.....based on that I think Hartlett deserves a go.
Hartlett is a thumping kick and can kick them from fifty and seems to lead very well.......

CHF is a very hard position to play - especially when u r taking the lead marks 60-75 metres out, and the oppisition floods back to cover fev - the CHF has to be a very good kick and a quick and good decision maker, because as soon as u hold onto it to long out there - the forward 50 becomes way to crowded. This happened a lot agst the Dees, and u really need someone with class being the person kicking the ball into the forward 50.

So can hartlett be this CHF - he most likely doesnt have the class to be the chf, but he will probably provide more leads than setanta did agst the dees - once he gets the mark, we will see whether he can use it effectively.

It might be useful to have both edwards and hartlett in the team, with one on the bench - just to provide the constant 3rd option in the forward line.

I think people need to define what CHF is in the modern game.

Brown, Mooney, Hall, Buddy all play mainly inside the arc. Same as fev does. I think T Cloke is closest thing to a traditional CHF but that only works because Rocca is instructed to more or less stay within 35 meters out from goal. Rarely leads and is the there for the long option if nothing else is on.

I like lead up forwards. Fisher Betts and at times Murphy have been the lead up this year. This position needs to have a nimble player playing it because if the ball gets loose then it could get moved away swiftly. Hartlett isnt nimble.

Another option inside the arc is the spot for hartlett or satanta in my opinion. Instructions to stay away from fev and be the option if we have to go long into fifty. Create a contest. I think that is why at this stage Carlos has been getting the nod. Puts up a better fight.

I use to think Hanson at WCE was a pretty good lead up forward with a touch of rugged.
