Don't tear down those stands just yet.....

With the introduction of the new 20/20 league in India there is a chance this game will be just as big as baseball. I love it and haven't spoken to anyone who dislikes it. This game could take off in Australia and become as popular here as baseball is in the states.

With the ACB having contracts for the MCG it leaves Telstra Dome and Princes Park the only stadiums in Melbourne that can attract and facilitate a good size crowd.

Should we keep these stands erect??? This could be a nice revenue earner for the club.

Imagine Collingwood versus Carlton in a 20/20 game and Symonds is playing for Carlton and Sharma playing for Collingwood. This could be huge.

I cant say I'm a huge fan of 20:20 - watched a couple games of the IPL thus far and must say I dont find it that entertaining. Personally I think it tries too hard to be 'entertaining' and ends up selling cricket short. Will be interesting to see if crowd/sponsorship interest holds over the next 5-10 yrs.

even with the stands pulled down the stadium would still be able to seat 20,000 plus. Some IPL crowds already have been only 15K which has been fine.

For IPL all you need is 15K fanatical supporters to provide an atmosphere and the TV rights (in India) take care of the rest.

Would certainly be a good idea for some of the top brass at the CFC to be calling some of the big knobs at the IPL with respect to how 20/20 cricket is going to develop over the next few years.

In terms of domestic 20/20 no chance, but with the support of the big bucks of the IPL then Princes Park might be the perfect opportunity!!

Knock the bloody stands down and get on with turning the place into an elite training centre that will have the Carlton Football Club winning premierships again.

Premierships will generate more money than any piss-ant cricket competition - which is all you would get as long as cricketers aspire to play for Australia.

What if an offer was given to the Carlton Football Club that it couldn't refuse. Like, here is $70 million and the new World Cricket League has access to Princes Park between October and February for the next 10 years.

Yep and thank god Pratty is in charge. We still have a really good opportunity, although it's closing, to capitalise on the fact we still are the only VIC club with our own stadium.

At the very least Vic clubs are crying out for a 3rd low cost stadium to play interstate matches. I know I sound like a broken record but f*** Collo/Smorgan messed up, lets not let this slip.

No it couldn't. If there was a World Cricket League, why the @#$%&! would they waste their time playing at a run-down stadium that has a surface like a minefield and, in some areas, stinks like hobo piss?

If there was a World Cricket League, they would be knocking on the door of the SCG, Adelaide Oval, MCG, Telstra Dome, Gabba, WACA, North Sydney, Lilac Hill, Manuka Oval... ANY VENUE that has an association with cricket. They would not be wasting their time re-developing a stadium to suit.

Get out the sledgehammer and get to it.

i am a test cricket fanatic, best cricket by a mile. sick of boring 50 over games but 20/20 is growing on me specialy when they had players wired for sound in our summer

I dont think it can be an elite training facility and hold international sporting contests.

I'm not even sure how much of the Pratt stand has already been ripped out at this stage, but once you put a gym in there its goodbye to having crowds sitting there.
