Procrastination can creep into footy clubs. Thinking along the lines of, "We'll be better next year when we get our injured players back, or when we get new equipment, or new draft picks …", is dysfunctional and gives players the opportunity to wash their hands of responsibility.

How pleasing is it to have a captain who speaks with such insight and common sense....

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Great article. Perfect case, from the players' POV, why the time for tanking is over, and the time to start winning matches is this season. No, this season won't be a premiership, but it has to be the first step towards number 17.

Great article by Judd.

Judd > Wilson, Sheahan, Fatprick, the rest.

If Judd wrote for the Australian they'd probably double their circulation with his honest, unbiased account. :)

PS, I didn't know Judd could do the Pitt maneuver!

I wonder if he will do it to Neitz...

Slightly OT, but it's quite amusing that the real BO made comments about people in the US getting bitter and as a result clinging to their faith and guns as a result, while here, our BO is all bitter, and is clinging to tanking....

What has given more optimism more than anything else over the past week or so is the articles I have read in the papers.

I went to the G on Sunday and before the game I sat down and read the age and the great article about the football dept and the amount of money being spent along with the key personnel we have added.

Then I read todays article from Judd about the importance of winning and to keep improving.

I certainly gives me a better perspective of what is going on at the club and I am glad.

It would be nice to keep hearing more about what is happening and where players are development etc instead of us guessing.

All in all it all sounds good, we will not only be great again but we will lead the way!!!

We never tanked.

We momentum shifted and list managed.

If we get consistency in our game then the sky is the limit, last week proved that were capable, now we just need to implement that week in week out.

Exactly my thoughts!

And exactly what i was feeling leaving the Richmond and StKilda game (in particular) I was bitterly dissappointed and was beginning to wonder whether there were issues in our psyche and mentality..

We are just beginning to build something.. The Collingwood game was very impressive and could definetely prove to be the turning point in the development of our group!

For the better! :-D

We tanked big time.

Judd didn't. Stevens didn't. Hadley didn't. Kreuzer didn't.

Inject those four into the tank and we're a completely different outfit.

Out of curiosity Synbad, i remember that you were an aggressive pro-tanker last year. Whats you stance on it this year, and the comments that Juddy has made in this article.

I also remember several TC fans saying something very similar to what Juddy was saying...that winning games creates a winning culture.

Judd "Procrastination can creep into footy clubs. Thinking along the lines of, "We'll be better next year when we get our injured players back, or when we get new equipment, or new draft picks …", is dysfunctional and gives players the opportunity to wash their hands of responsibility."
