Dermie copped a lot of flak for his Line in the Sand speech at 1/2 time of a Hawks/Ess game, but if you remember it wasntlong before that that Parko made his Mummy Boy's comment. Vandenburg led the charge that day, they made him captain and his hardness became the standard.

I reckon Fev's running into Didak at 1/4 time last year that led to the melee was our Line in the Sand. Now our players expect to back each other up when the rough stuff starts ie Maxwell's elbow on Murph.

Thanks Fev

I agree, watching it on youtube recently he really showed them that he wouldn't let his teamates get pushed around (even though it was only a small shove) - the reaction of his teamates afterwards backed this up and even though we lost it seemed to bond the group.

Bower and Banno led the charge after the Murphy felling on Sunday.

I actually think our 'line in the sand' moment, as a club, wasn't on the field.

I think the line was drawn the night Graham Smorgon was shown the door by the members. It all started there. Us, the members, declared what is unacceptable for CFC. At that moment, from the board to the admin to the playing group, we re-iterated that mediocrity and Carlton cannot co-exist. You either perform or you're out!!

i think 'the line in the sand' was drawn a little earlier than the fev-didak incident. i think we've been really good at backing each other up and sticking up for each other ever since last year when murphy got hit by baker?? the first time we played the Aints. there were reports after that match that john murphy had gone in the rooms and had a crack at everyone for not sticking up for his son. whether that really happened or not is irrelevant, but since then we have been flying the flag for each other. i felt so proud to be a carlton member when i saw how the west coast players reacted to hall after he decked staker.

Banno was filthy about the hit, it was great to see. He burst through the pack to get to maxwell and let him know about it. Bannister definately went up a notch in my book when I saw that!!!

It was good to see the boys back themselves up, the contrast with only one WC player having anything to say to Hall after he decked Staker was vivid.

Having said that, I don't think we've drawn any lines in the sand on the field yet. For me it will be when we stop losing to Saint Kilda. It's just not right.
