Old news. Michael Warner obviously doesn't read this site.

I don't think so. I think he'll see it as a victory of this little crusade of his.

Despite having nothing to do with it anyway

Isn't Carlton going to end up getting some income streams from pubs (that would have pokies). I guess that would mean that we can get the good PR and the cash as well. 8)

It would have been good for the club to put a moral / social spin on it - given the problems that pokies to cause SOME people in society.

I know Souths did this up here earlier this year, and made headlines.

Pokies are a vile cancer, and I for one will be happy that our club will no longer lower itself to ripping off the mentally feeble.

totally agree. I would love to see our club take this stance and remove this menace to society away

3AW this AM.
The reasoin the Club is losing the pokies at the club is because they are losing money since we dont play games there anymore and there is no reason to go to the club for anyone...cept to watch training of course or to pay homage.

To my knowledge it fell through, and won't be going ahead.

I dislike pokies, they take peoples hard earned money, when it could otherwise be spent supporting a new business, buying an Australian made product (pretty hard to do these days) or otherwise being gainfully circulated through the community - instead of being pretty much flushed down the toilet...

I will also be glad when the pokies have gone because I will be able to take my young son up to the social club bar and buy him a packet of chips and a rasberry lemonade - after he has had a happy time looking at the Carlton trophy cabinet.

I’m not in favor of Pokies at anytime, but just the same you just cant expect Carlton to get rid of them while other Clubs still have them and making big money as this will put Carlton further back financially behind other rich Clubs and for this Club to make a turn around and stay on top you need a sound finance coming through each year, we just cant expect Pratt to keep on bailing us out financially all the time, besides people playing pokies are not going to stop playing them just because Carlton don’t have them they just go to another outlet instead at our expense.

Well.... not directly, at least. Its OK if someone else does the ripping off and gives us the money. That's far more socially acceptable.

Probably explains why there was no moral/social spin from the PR department.

We can't fo the anti-gaming spin. We still have the pokies at Laverton and it seems BM will go hard to get more pokies licenses with the breakup of the duopoly in this area. I think that the CFC might get involved with BM to created non-football revenue.
