PRO:
- Ratten's coaching took Heath Shaw out of the game - he sets up a lot of their game and we kept him quite for most of the day.

- Gibbs' tackling - he was amazing. His style when he has the ball and his goal reminded me of Craig Bradley

I've read the first page of post and i have to say...many people are missing the point

THE BIGGEST PRO:
We had a game plan that worked...in other words, 4 quarter effort was achieved.

Some people are saying we did not go through the corridor...we played chip and slow....it worked. How good was it when we played the game on a tempo we controlled.

PRO = Just had a look at Nick's and it's nice to see someone else bitching about their team on the back of a loss to the Blues ;)

Pros:
Great team effort. Every player made a contribution to the victory.
The defensive effort. Great that we finally managed to keep a team below 100. Waite did a fantastic job on Rocca, who has torn us up over the last few years. Bannister was very good. Enjoyed the role that Carrazzo played when down back. Might not be a great kick, but he shuts down attacking forwards and has terrific poise when the ball is there to be won.
Fev.
Simmo, and the rest of the midfield. Nice to finally have an area where we can cause the opposition some match up problems.
I thought Russell was pretty good.
Fantastic crowd.

PROS

Apart from all the obvious I thought our game plan of slowing it down was bizarre, but it came off because of very precise kicking and lack of turnovers.

CONS

I pretty much failed to enjoy the game because I expected us to choke in the last quarter & lose it.

The Missus (scum supporter) is in a pretty shitty mood tonight (which could be a pro - I'm just not sure yet...)

Pros:

- Team effort
- Didn't break that losing streak
- Gibbs, Murphy, Kreuzer
- Fevola
- Simpson getting back in form
- 1st win for Ratts
- Tackling improved
- Scotland's kicking improved
- Hadlee, nice recruit!
- Our defenders

Cons

- Russell still can't kick
- Setanta, I am getting really worried about him, he is going backwards.

Pros:
* Murphy's hard work and polish was outstanding. I thought the diffrences between the #1 and #2 pick in his year were highlighted on the day - substance over form.
* Gibbs having impressive time on the ball.
* Bower defeating Cloke, a very impressive performance
* Bannister in his 50th game at Carlton
* Winning without dominant games from Judd or Stevens
* Fevola
* Overall team effort
* We were clearly the better team all game
* tackling had improved

Cons:
Nah bugger that it was a great game and great win.

Pros
Team effort
Gibbs tackling
Players, in particular Banno, flying the flag against Maxwell after his 6 week hit on my Smurph
Fev's field day
Cloke's ribbing of Cloke
Our backline - played well together - there is a love affair waiting to happen.
Ratts - persisted with players when another coach would have benched them.
Bower didn't make me nervous.
Mandy's posts

Cons
The guy behind me who came from nowhere spitting abuse in my ear about God knows what.

When are opposition players going to learn that knocking out Murphy doesnt stop him. Toughest player in the AFL. Head over the ball, probably 80kg, gets belted by all and sundry and comes back for more.
His extraction and clearance from 5 Pies in the last when the Filth had come to within ?3 or 4 goals was breathtaking. His pass to Fev was a skidder but was to Fev's advantage and Fev run onto it and kicked a ripper goal that snuffed out the Magpie challenge. That was inspirational team lifting play from the both of them.

How did Bryan go? I didn't see him get much of it yesterday. Ahh that's right he played on Saturday - must have an injury  .

Pro : Usually the flashy players that you love to hate kill us. Collingwood has 4 of them, Daisy, Davis, Didak and Medhurst. Besides Leon's 2 goal in the last, they werent sighted. Kudos to carrots, Bannister and Jamo.

Pros-
For the first time in I dont know how long we seemed to be in control of the game and it was played on our terms not theirs

It takes our home game attendance average to 75212 - must boost the coffers somewhat

The back six is performing well

The midfields is starting to work

we have a couple of recyclyed players that dont look like duds - Hadley, Pfieffer and of course Judd

cons

you still close your eyes when ever we kick out after a point or bring the ball out of defence

Murphy, Simpson and Betts are excellent overhead/contested markers for their height.

Agreed.

I also thought the MC really got the match ups right this week.
It was nice to be on the 'generous' side of the umpiring for once.

Given his boxing background, I would like Banno on my side if it got willing!

pro: we are only 1 game and percentage away from 5th and have Melbourne this week. just need to beat them by 25 goals and rely on Adelaide, collingwood, brisbane, stkilda, north, richmond an Essendon* to lose

Big Pro was learning to play within our limitations, and the controlling of the tempo at critical stages was smart especially late in quarters where we usually cough up a couple of goals.
Bower's game on Cloke was first rate. Travis is a quality player and has a great work rate. Well done Pauly.
In fact all the defensive boys, Jamo, Waiter, T-Bird, Banno, Gibbs great effort.
And the SUPERMAN Buddy Fevola.
The new boys in 5 and 8 go well too.

Cons: No song on TV replay.

Thanks to Donstuie for providing this link in another thread.

This is a huge pro. This is a sign of what happens now when you take one of our players high.
