Hey, this is my virginal post so go easy on me !

A mate of mine has a theory re our current wearer of number 25.
He is adamant that should he have a half decent year (60-80 goals) we should offload him at the end of the year for high draft picks.
The logic to his theory is that we are 4 to 5 years from realistically challenging at the pointy end of September and by that time Fev will be either a senior citizen, in the next cell to Carl Williams, be visited weekly by Les Twentyman, or remarried to Lindsay Lohan.
Or possibly all of the above !

Bottom line, get rid of him while his currency is still high or before his next cock up, and going by last 5 years or so, there will be one, mind you this coming from an unabashed fan of his.

Any thoughts ?

Can i just add as someone who grew up on a staple diet of Carlton flags, as in 8 times and saw 7 of them live, its like footy has stopped being enjoyable the last few years.
I want my fricking mojo back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i cannot believe that Fev will not f*** up again resulting in dismissal as that is what Swanny preached and if needed he will follow through. If that happend then obviously we are more screwed and there will be little if any interest in him, the Fev project will be tooooooo hard for someone else to take the punt, then the value just decreases rapidly. That said, as shattering as it would be, i believe your argument has some merit. Lets kick 111 this year, take out the Coleman and witness 18 more rounds of Feeevvvvvvooollllllaaaaaaa magic. When his head is right, it is just beautiful to watch.

Have a great day fellow TC's.

I can't agree.

In the next 5 years, Fev will will be integral to winning our next flag.

Whilst he's wearing the navy blue & has committed to staying off the booze, we must support him.

Depends if you want to watch 5 years of nothingness in the meantime I guess

Keeping characters and true game breakers is more important to cellar dwelling teams than high flying teams. Our time will come but in the meantime no point selling everything but the kitchen sink...........

I'm hoping he wins the Coleman, we trade him for a high pick and use his $500k on another big name defender. He's on his last chance with us, which is too much to risk.

He won't want to go to bitchmond or whoever finishes second bottom, so a trade will need to be done. His yearly salary will be very handy in growing this club. If he does stay, it should be on a $300k pa contract.

welcome Mr 25, it all depends on what we can get in terms of a trade, 2 top 10 players I would say sure, lets do it, 1 top 10, nah thanks.

kk, get off the gear mate! if we got a top 15 I'd be happy. Next year he's 28 and is an absolute head case. If we demanded 2 top 10 picks, they'd close their folders and politely walk away.

Maybe but me thinks Fev is damaged goods. If we try to shop him around, we will find enough scepticism to get stuff all. Hes a minute away from the next big headline, good or bad.

And if he does get shopped around, Fev better get used to the idea of getting 150K a year because thats all thats going to be offered.

For my mind, Fev has only one positive future and thats with us IF he knuckles down for several years. Anything else and he will be just another cautionary tale abuot a kid with 'potential'.

We are to Fevcentric.

I reckon the only way forward is with out him....our forward line would work better without him.

I think it may be too late to get any real value for him.

Brisbane got stuff-all for a Brownlow Medelist, 3 time premiership player who was eratic, but only really has a big mouth. Fev is a far greater risk - we missed the boat after his Coleman.

thats because he was terminated from the club and older(?)

Johnstone - pick 14
tarrant - pick 8+Medhurst etc

I'd be looking for a top 10 pick or 2 top 20 picks

Of course you'd try for a top 10 pick, but we'll get out of jail for #14.

Best case scenario is we have a bidding war on our hands, but let's be honest, nobody pays out on 'potential'. You have to have good results that date back over years, not weeks.

Fev is better then Chris Tarrant, this is the only recent comparable trade in the market.

i know swanny said if fev has another alcohol-related incident his contract at the blues will be terminated but why does almost everyone on here treat it as if if he does have another incident then we'll sack him and get nothing in return. and then these posters say we have to trade him at the end of the year so we can get something in return for him. surely, if he was to stuff up again we wouldn't just delist him, surely we'd try to get a trade for him. and i know his trade value will decrease if he has another incident but i'm just asking why people have this idea that he'll be sacked straight away and we'll get nothing in return.

So lets trade Fev come seasons end get ourselves a gun defender and a young unproven potential star...

Sounds great....... Now tell me who our Premiership FF will be please.

But i have an idea we'll trade a star midfielder to get a FF ( after all we'll have an abundance of them 8) )

Seriously we need not to look at getting rid of talent but focus more on either developing it or making it want to come to Carlton...

Maybe someone should suggest to the Lions that they need to trade J.Brown, after all its unlikely they'll play in another GF before his retirement. :P :P

Gee, that'd be a winner, let's trade a guy who wins the Coleman Medal. Why don't we trade Judd while we're at it seeing he has high draft value too. Meanwhile, given we've lost 4 CHF's in the last couple of years (Morrell, Whitnall Kennedy and the move of Waite to CHB), Then we trade last our last KP forward. Yep, that's winner.......not! Explain to me how you're going to replace him. High draft picks won't do it in the short term as providing you fluke a good one, they'll take a a year or two. Then you only hope they can develop enough to win Coleman, as Fev does, or dominate CHF. Be like starting again expect a couple of years back. Not so easy when you think about it. I have an idea. Let's try keeping the talent we actually have given we've struggled for it for so long.

This thread is not well thought out but then again that's football supporters.
