Bad Waite

Please explain. Just interested. Do you believe he'd be better for us as a forward?

Overall (apart from the result) a great spectacle to watch. Umpires were noticed and that's not their job. Carlton should have won.

If the umpires learn to show some discretion and common sense, as well as picking up genuine interference, the game will be better off, and the result will not be influenced by them.

What a debut from KREUZER!!!!!

PROS

Good signs of a team improving. Really enjoyed the game from the kids.

KREUZER (can only get better)
JUDD (he's a machine, and can only get better)
BETTS (best game ever in the CFC jumper...now keep it up)
STEVENS (well done busting a gut)
FEVOLA (great player off the piss)
MURPHY (really has a dig, and finds space)
JAMISON (I believe this guy is our full back. Great closing speed)
HADLEY (he's gonna get better. Tough as nails)
BOWER (great defensively and attacking. Needs to learn to handball)
CARRAZZO (hard worker, can play better)

CONS

Umpires are killing this game. It'll get to the point I will only watch Carlton.
Fitness and rotations of the midfield
Hampson should have played forward if Waite is at CHB
Waite wasted at CHB
Judd did too much of the hard ball thing, we needed someone else using up hard ball energy
Scotland. First time I've suggested he's has been disappointing. Browne to take his position (Browne beat him in one on one compettive stuff at training during the week. I thought Browne was going to take Scottos posi; should have)
Simmo, out of form...helplessly
Fisher underdone and not dangerous up forward.
Russell. yes he busts a gut, but I think it's over (for now) little buddy
Bentick and Setanta missing.
Thornton looked clumsy.

SO-SO

If BANNISTER contributed a bit more than the goal and closing down Stanton would have been a positive
PFIEFFER (hard at it...OK physical game, will only get better)
WAITE (wasted at CHB chasing McPhee around the park)
HOULIHAN (yes a lot of possessions, but not damaging)
GIBBS (same as Houlihan)

Pros

As everyone else stated - Judd, Fev, Betts, Kreuzer et al

Jameison - it was mentioned in some thread that he's not the answer at FB - but I disagree - his closing speed is excellent - enabling him to spoil

And I like the way Bannisters being playing his negating role

Cons

Defensive pressure still not good enough

Last few minutes of 3rd qtr.......it killed us

I thought Bannister played on Watson, and Watson had no influence on the game. That's a massive win for Bannister - Watson is one of Essendon*'s most dangerous players.

Pros

Kreuzer - Now where is that embarrassing Cothchin vs Kreazer thread :?:
Judd - Getting close to his best
Stevens - Good offensively for 3/4
Murph - Class
Betts - Maybe we have solved our CHF problems
Cloke Pfieffer Hadley all give 100%
Fev - Just play footy Fev
Bower - Played well

Cons

Midfield pressure
Defensive pressure
Forward pressure
Simmo - Out of form. Move him to the wing
Stevens - Down hill skier
Betts - Why is he our CHF
Cloke - To slow for a forward. Couldn't keep up with Ryder and Fletcher going the other way.
Russell - Wasted pick. Didn't this bloke want to go back to SA so why did we keep him :?:
Scotland Houlihan and Gibbs in the backline doesn't work. All one pace players maybe keep Gibbs move others. Time to try something different to stop the 100 point score's

Pros:
Same as most other posters.

Cons:
Angus Morefrees. When will the umpires wise up to him? It appears that he has been nominated for the Wanganeen scholarship, for demonstrating an ability to dive forward in every contest (with the occasional throw back of the head).
Matthew Lloyd. Obviously a champion player. But infuriating the way he continues to dive forward in every marking contest and get rewarded for it. I reckon Fevola could go close to kicking 200, if he got the protection that Lloyd does.
The apparent lack of defensive strategy. I can accept that we're not all that good at the moment. But I find it frustrating that I can't see any development of team style or strategy in order to stop the goal avalanche. (For what it's worth, I think we've finally got some reasonable defenders in development. I'd just like to see the rest of the team and the match committee develop some way of giving them a little help.)

Am overseas at the moment and missed the game. I gather Scotland played HBF / BP but can someone fill me in on Carrots and Russell. Presumably Carrots was in the mid rotation..? Where did Russell play?

At the MCG - for the last time. He was selected to play on the smaller Aboriginal boys I assume to keep up with their speed. Needless to say it didn't quite work  .
