One can only be positive when you win. Yes, great to see Judd, Fevola and Betts play well but we have seen three players for carlton play well before and then the bottom 6 players are shitt=house.

Time for some tough decisions to be made:

one observation - do not "zone off" when there is an opportunity to tackle someone. Houlihan - in the last quarter- had the opportunity to tackle someone but decided on "zoning off" so that the player didn't run forward.

that is no good as all he does it give it to someone else.

I would be dropping players who refused to tackle. Tackling should be just as valuable as kicks and marks for a weak-kneed, lilly white prissy team like Carlton.

For all we know we haven't improved at all in the last six years. True positives can only come about with a victory.

The umpiring was just abysmal. Is it still a contact sport or have we officially made football into non=contact sport like soccer or volleyball?

the so called chopping of their forward's arms... never there. just some of the decisions were beyond abysmal.

The so called push out from Fevola of Michael - the umpire signalled he used his hands when he used the side of arm near his elbow - was either a decision made by someone on the take or someone blatantly stupid.

Hey Norm, whilst I agree with the majority of your post re tackling, the bottom 6 and umpiring etc, do you really subscribe to these statements?

If so, it is akin to saying: "I would be cheerful if I got a root. I'm not going to be cheerful until I get one".

Let me tell ya, you never will get that donald duck until you believe that you will, until you plan to get one and until you put in the necessary work to arrive at the landing strip.

Being positive only when something good happens is not positivity. That is plain and simple negativity. If you don't believe in something strongly enough, it rarely happens.

Sure we all want our boys to win, but FFS; it is a process. Right now we are the novices playing well above our weight division. Have some confidence in Ratts and the Club. Do you think that he went home and slit his wrists? No he went home and reviewed the performance of each player and each passage of play. By now he is preparing a review for his assistant coaches and arrranging meetings with them and the players. He is probably already looking at tactics and matchups for the Filth. He would be thinking positively about the matches ahead. He certainly wouldn't be getting on a fan forum and saying "I'll be positive when we win" :P

Or go over the salary cap. :P

He (Mr Swann) said the honour and pride associated with the club's traditional navy blue jumper was priceless.

We understand the re building etc I think all people ask for is 110% effort once the navy blue jumper is on them.

People need to believe & see the results in any passion they have- not feel that they have been hoodwinked with professional "Spin Doctoring"

Honesty goes along way still in this world. Turn the beasts over until they get the right beasts doing the right things & things will start to turn.

Anybody that is given the priveledge of wearing that jumper should give nothing less that a red hot go! If not do turn them over with somebody that will give hes all for the team and wants to be accountable for his actions. . Big names or not.

think Mikkys post is just cos Hawthorn went a certain way were guaranteed to fiollow exactly the same path....

Thats logical.....

Hawthorn traded aggresively and were very smart in the way they recruited.... their facilities and develpment we advanced.

Ratts is not Clarkson till he achives what Clarkson has achieved.
Our list is not Hawthorns till they achive what HAwthorns has.
Our recruiting a nd footy dept is not Hawthorns till its proven itself...

You just cant say were going to follow Hawthorns lead...

We might be Freo....

We need to prove ourselves at every level...and change what needs to be changed for success...

The rest is just hoping isnt it???

I have a mate who barracks for the Hawks, he came to the game with me satday night and said Carlton remind him of the Hawks 2 years back. You have to remember the Hawks won the lottery with first round draft picks for Nathan Thompson and Jonathan Hay.

We don't want no quick fix. The club is in order, settled board and management & building of the new facilities starts in June. This is Rattens first year as coach and i'm sure he will make changes come years end with many contracts coming to an end.

We desperately need to poach a top recruiter. Hopefully swanny can deliver us one.

one other point is Ratten has inherited this list built under the guidance of Dennis Pagan. Ratten may believe he does not have the cattle he needs for his style of play and needs to build a list like Roos and Rocket have done. One would expect Ratts will make some changes with our list come years end and i would say trade for draft picks and get more kids into this side.

We're running out of excuses. I won't chuck it yet, but when you've got some of the leagues best players playing the game, and the stats are staring you in the face, you must produce better performances.

Judd
Stevens
Fev
Murphy
Gibbs
Fisher
Simpson

..and no, we weren't the youngest team out there on the weekend. Hawthorn were by a mile. We don't have the quality of youth that they have and shouldn't be playing the kids that aren't up to it just yet.

We have harder players playing in the 2s that can help the younger blokes we do play. 2 or 3 of them mixed in with Kreuzer, Gibbs, Jammo etc will do them the world of good and might even produce a win.
