I finally managed to watch all of the game last night. I'm still of the belief Waite is a better CHB than CHF... he seems to switch on a bit better.
I'll make a concession though. The forward line structure is rooted because our current FF thinks he is bigger than the team. Drop the current FF and I'd be more than happy to see Waite back in attack as the go-to man.
It's arguable whether he's a better chb than chf, IMO he's our best at both.
I understand and agree (for the first time) that Fev's body language is not good...when he's waiting for the free that he aint going to get..But I don't see that Fev thinks he's bigger than the team. It's how you see it.
Did you notice how open that forwardline was for him to work in?
Did you also notice that Fev was triple teamed?
What did Ratts do to alleviate the mismatch, let alone give us a scoring option.
I don't think Fev cares who kicks the goals as long as the Blues win. Imagine him standing there wondering how we're expecting to win the game without any fellow forwards to contribute to the scoreboard.
I'm pissed off with our forwardline structure too. Fev doesn't coach or plan such a non existent structure. Rather than get rid of Fev, we should be working out how we can take advantage of him.
That's why many are interested in robbing Peter (Waite at CHB) to pay Paul (Waite as a CHF). We need to win on the scoreboard, because it doesn't matter how many goals Waite stops, he's the only one who can stand up and deliver the help our scoreboard needs to give us a chance to WIN!
BTW 17th premiership, I agree with your argument too. I just choose Waite at CHF to give us a chance to win.
Same reason why Mooney (Geel) is CHF not CHB.
Same reason why Brown (Bris) is CHF not CHB
At the very least, Ratts should show some flexibility with Waite instaed of pigeon holing him, like he did against the Hawks in the NAB. We were much more potent forward and more competitive when Waite went forward.
