agreed,

Thought Betts played his best game for the club thus far.

Good point, he has had a tendency to be very up and down. Hopefully the experience he now has will help...

Yes for Pfeiffer, but the recruiting department didn't need to do much for Kruezer, Judd and Hadley.

Is that you Wayne? Now don't be shy. Did you deliberately omit to mention his first ever recruit for Carlton at pick 9?

Besides the no brainers (the 3 number 1 picks) Our recruiting has been terrible. We have done well late in the draft with picks that snared us Kade Simpson, Jarrod Waite, Fevola and Fisher also the rookie selections Brett Thornton and now Jammo, me thinks those picks were under the guidance of Shane O’Sullivan.

Swanny has to poach someone, get em across and help us build around Murph, Gibbs, Juddy and Stevo.

Has anyone the number of the bulldogs or Hawks recruiter?? please pass it on to Greg Swann of the Carlton football club

Wayne Hughes selections in the NATIONAL DRAFT since 2004

RUSSELL
HARTLETT
BLACKWELL
BRYAN
RASO
MURPHY
KENNEDY
BOWER
EDWARDS
GIBBS
HAMPSON
GRIGG
AUSTIN
BENJAMIN
ANDERSON
KRUEZER
BROWNE
ARMFIELD

The five selections in the 2004 DRAFT were shockers.
I said it from day one and I'll keep saying it Russell and Hartlett will not make it. Blackwell is too small, too slow and can't kick over 40m... gone.

2005
Murphy is a good selection, being pick one you shouldn't get that wrong
Kennedy is gone
Bower I have my doubts. Very poor decison maker, heart in the mouth stuff with him.
Edwards may be ok.

2006
Gibbs and Hampson I am happy with.
Grigg not sure on. Panics when under pressure.
Austin will not make it. Benjamin has pace but can't kick.
Anderson has mongrel but he also can't kick.

2007
Kruezer will be a star
Browne and Armfied to early to tell.

You wouldn't say Wayne Hughes' record since 2004 is all that impressive. Take away the number 1 seletions which should be no brainers, none of the late selections make you stand up and take notice.

How did you know from day 1 that Russell and Hartlett won't make it, and yet you still can't tell us about Grigg, Browne and Armfield?

... it's past day 1 after all.

Anyone who wastes picks on Russell, Hartlett cannot be any good. Add into that shocking mix the waste of picks on Raso (not so bad only cos he was last pick in draft) Blackwell (completely hopeless), Benjamin and Austin and it goes a long way to explaining our current predicament.

Just curious, of these, how many have earned a Norwich Rising Star nomination?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's only 2 (Gibbs and Murphy). If so, that's pretty poor.

Who selected Eddie Betts in the 2004 PSD?

Only an idiot would say Benjamin and Austin won't make it and picks were wasted on Raso, Blackwell, Benjamin and Austin.

And that's the reason for our predicament.

You're just trolls pretending to be Carlton supporters.

Most of those players are still eligible for the rising star award.

Just like Carrazzo.

Two Points

Would those players have developed better with a better culture and more / better resources over recent years?

Did we get the most out of them?

How would they have gone at Hawthorn or Geelong?

And

I like Pfeiffer, but after the first round or two and our apparent reliance on Fev, I would almost have taken a calculated risk on Scott Welsh to offer a mature option up front.

But Pfeiffer offers some grunt and I am happy with him.
