Teams look great when they are doing training drills....Two teams out there doing training drills, that was the pressure last night.

Appalling defensive skills and fitness-

I know tonight's defeat was bitterly, bitterly disappointing. But in amongst that disappointment we saw some amazing football tonight which will repay and reward our support in years to come, when games like this are but a distant memory.

As a mod, and a passionate Carlton supporter, I ask, please keep this in mind when posting about our beloved club.

Exactly! Not much more pressure than a practice game.

Once again we lose a final qtr. Absolutely not good enough. How professional are we????

I think that the return of Walker in the 2nd half of the season combined with Judd, Stevens and Hadley reaching 100% fitness will see us improve significantly and beat some quality sides.

I cant believe this is CFC we are all referring to. The club currently is a rabble yet some of us are clutching at straws trying to find positives. We have just equalled a streak from 1901 of 14 straight losses (the streak will be extended next week) yet some posters are saying they are proud of the club.

If we were St Kilda or Richmond supporters i could possibly understand ur stance but this is Carlton and putting up with the crap im seeing is UNACCEPTABLE!!!

I hate to say it but im very concerned that we will lose to Melbourne in 2 weeks also. Just wait and see.

To those of u saying that 'we arent fit but will improve in the second half of the year', obviously have never played the game before. YES, we are clearly unfit and as the year progresses, we are only going to get worse in running out games. Again, just wait and see.

It was a better game of football than we have seen lo these many years. The last couple of games stopped by the end of the first quarter, and against the Aints they found more steam in the last ten minutes, but while the outcome was not what we'd wanted (but was expected by the dour and pessimistic among us) it is a true sign of things to come

- We kept up with them for a good part of the game
- We were the first to 100
- We killed them in the stats
- Fev kicked a bag of 8
- Judd scored two and had a killer night with the pill
- Kreuzer had a killer night in the ruck, as did Cam, and Mattie also kicked two: one with his first kick in AFL Football, and another with his fourth
- Betts proved his doubters wrong

There were some holes in the mid-field and the goals they scored against us in time-on were our downfall, but if we can play better than that next week, we will absolutely smash the Filth. And then we can have the week off in round 5 and still kill the Dees. Although I truly hope we don't do the latter but still win.

With what I saw during the game (I wasn't able to hear it - I was just following the comments of those of you who were either hearing and / or watching it) made me happy, and I look forward to more of the same, except for the entire two hours!

I don't see the defensive players as being a major problem so much as how the ball is allowed to be brought through the midfield by our opposition. One on one I thought we weren't that bad - but when the ball is being run throught he middle like Essendon* were able to, we are going to get torched.

Aside from the loss itself, there were so many positives from last night that we'll build on for the future.

Even if we had won last night the same posters would still come on here and be negative

whats the matter with you? do you need attention so much that you try and think of the most outrageous things to post? Have you wiped what has happened to this club in the last 5 years or so. The club was on its knees. Maybe you should not watch or go to the footy for the next couple of seasons because it isnt going to get much better. The coach has already said wins and losses dont matter-do you think he was joking by saying that to the media.

I think its pathetic when a supporter calls the club a rabble given the rebuilding that has gone on over the las 2 years.

Carlton played alot better last night thats obvious. The will to win has to be there in every contest, every gut wrenching run - with & without the ball.

I think some players don't realise that to win consistently you have to perform 100% of the match.

Unfortunately we have passengers in this team that are just not up to it.

Russell
Scotland
Houlihan

Maybe give Houlihan one more week on the forward line & see how he goes.

But Gee Whiz these three in particular are SOFT....

They have no heart & will never ever put their body on the line & are never seen doing any of the hard team 1% 'ers.

Bring in the young kids like Browne, Armfield & Jackson. Put some aggression & passion back into the side. At least then if we lose it wont be from lack of heart.

For those whining about 14 straight losses, did it occur to you we were supposedly 'tanking' to get that priority pick for 11 of that 14 game losing streak, or were we just plain crap - which is it?

Did it not occur to many that when Ratten took over, he was going to give many of our youngsters the opportunity to come into the team and gain some experience (something Pagan rarely did) - 9 games later (6 last year, 3 this year) and we expect miracles to happen.

Reality is we still have a fair way to go - that is what most of us agree on - and last night was again another bitter pill to swallow, but it clearly takes a couple of years before a the right team and game plan all connect together.

We have taken 3 steps forward, 2 steps back, but at least we are dealing with a young developing team, rather than a team that had fewer developing young players as was the case when Pagan was at the helm!

Abaddon, if you believe that, why are you here?

The CFC is about winning, but we have to accept that some cards we have been dealt over the past few years have set us back a long way & in this modern era of football, we need to rebuild the team & part of that is losing.

However, we have been in all 3 games this year & I will say, should've won 2, if not all 3.

For each loss we have, we move closer to our next win.

'Tis lovely to be bright and cheerful, just like Abaddon and Gavroman- a reminder, however; Carlton, after their worst losing streak, went on to play in seven grand finals (from 1904), including the fabled three-peat. Can someone please answer me this ?: what exactly are the benefits in continually denigrating and mocking the current youthful team we all love
so passionately! Any replies are welcome, particularly from Abaddon and Gavroman. :?
