That I will concede, and also that it sends a message to the AFL that our administration is ready to kick heads if it needs to.

Apart from that, storm in a tea cup. 8)

Do we need to be that arrogant again?

Are we turning our backs on another revenue generator - there are enough fans out there that like the white to purchase it

how much money would we make of selling a couple hundred white jumpers.

Hate the white jumper - want it gone.

When they ran out onto the ground last Saturday night, I groaned - thought immediately they had no hope winning in that thing.

Navy Blue = power
White = surrender

well said.

Its not a fashion show. its 150 years of tradition in the navy blue jumper, in 25 years time i don't wanna watch highlights and see us run around in a white jumper when were are the navy blues

I wonder how many members would be happy for their membership fees contributing to paying this fine?

I dont know about paying the fines but I am quite happy to visit my local marine supplies store and buy a length of rope tie a few knots in it and send it to the mentally bereft Andrew Demetrispew.

This is the last time we will be wearing the White jumper.

As stated by Swanny a few weeks ago....

Why had there not been a problem for 148 years with jumpers?

I guess money talks?

Well i guess there'll be a 110G fine waiting for Essendon* on Monday  Last year they wore that abomination against the Aints. Last night the traditional strip.

So Demetrispew says that Essendon* had to wear it last year but not this year :?

I reckon that's the green light to wear Navy on Sunday :P

BTW, i don't mind the clash jumper. As long as all teams are made to wear one. Wouldn't mind getting one myself but whenever i try to get one they are always sold out. Might say something right there.

I hope we accept the $5K fine per player (x 22) and play in the old Dark Navy Blue.

Demetriou did dare Swanny to do it.

DO IT!

We are the Old Dark Navy Blues.

I bought one last week and wore it to the game on Sunday, which we also won! :-D

Yeah I watched that last night with someone who is new to AFL. Neither of us could follow which team was which as soon as there were a few players around the ball (and I've neem following AFL for over 20 years). As far as making the "product" more marketable and accessible to potential new fans clash strips are definately the way to go.

A few thoughts about ours.

1. No would would care about ours if we were 4-0. People latch on to anything to vent their anger when we're losing. Usually it's just some poor 19 year old kid who has played half a dosen games and has the misfortune to have not discovered all Australian form yet.

Sure Melvey would still not like the white strip and he may have even have still started this thread but, it would have had about 3 replies because the first one would have been "who cares we're winning".

2. People need to distinguish between the clash strip and the colour of it. If the problem is that white is too submissive then we should go back to the drawing board and design one what is more suitable (perhaps figuring navy blue more prominately).

However, if people think the problem is actually having a clash strip then I can't agree and think that makes about as much sense as arguing that football should still only be played on Saturday afternoons at Prince's Park.

3. I was actually a bit dissapointed with Swann. He comments about the clash strip just seemed like a transparent attempt to direct attention away from the performance of the players and the MC. He was also completely reactive to Walls calling us the inspided whites in the comentary box. He should have said

"we're the Navy Blues and the Blues can win wearing anything, even a heshan sack. That performance was unacceptable and the players know that".

I doubt they would give us a fine considering the scum didn't wear their clash guernsey last night. Unless the scum are expecting a fine themselves.

Its given us the green light i reckon.

Mate, I had the same problem. RB&W vs RB&W; what a terrible situation for a spectator.

They may as well play in the muddy Glenferrie bog and the result would be similar but without the R&W; B vs B.

No way does the CFC vs Dees clash give the spectator the same problem if one team is wearing white shorts; no way. And as for the clash of jumpers btw STK and CFC pffft!

What a load of shit.

Brizzie Bliue's suggestion is the solution.
