Remember the Man Utd are called the red devils and have a white clash strip...

At least we have a Navy Blue logo!

The EPL argument is specious.

We shouldn't be going down that road "because EPL teams wear different colours"

I still think my one was the best.....

GET RID OF THEM!!! we are the Navy Blues. There's no room for white jumpers.

I know many of you despise me but, i'm sure we can come together on this mater and the challenge the club to turf out of those insipid white jumpers.

Melvey, great post.

The jumpers are shite....

We are the Whitey Blues!
WTF....

I hate them, and struggle to see the real significance of the jumper.

It is degrading to the club!

Picture Kerna, SOS, Braddles or Doully wearing that pathetic cloth.

Hell, bring back the M& M jumper!

That makes sense

Did I miss the part where Melvey said we lost because of the colour of our jumper? Personal thoughts about any author's perspective(s) from irrelevant threads shouldn't spill over. Play the ball, not the man.

Personally I prefer to see Navy Blue each week, but I understand the reasioning behind their introduction and believe they're here to stay.

Did you see that little note under Melvey's post?

Yes he did blame the loss on the strip, and then edited it out after I called him out for it.

Robert Walls described the jumper as insipid tonight on OTC.

We are The Old Dark Navy Blues!

Say no more.

Apologies, although I do think the sentiment of my original post is worth drawing attention to; it does seem some posters are pigeonholed to a degree and subject to ridicule because of their difference of opinion.

I am waiting for the suggestion that we wear pink jumpers instead of white.

Colour clashes are overrated in AFL Football. Each club has a unique jumper. It is not the same as in the English Premier League for instance where several clubs wear predominantly the same colour and design. If football survived for over 100 years without the need for clash strips, why do we all of a sudden need them now? If something must be done however, the away team should wear its white shorts, to contrast with the black/darker-coloured shorts which can be worn by the home team. This issue has been completely overblown IMO.

From the Swann thread:

Jez1966 wrote:
-WHITE JUMPER. He is going to tell teh AFL to get knotted and if he had his way we will not wear it again. THe AFL writes a letter to the Club mid week telling them what to wear otherwise a $100K fine (unflowering believable the AFL). We are the Navy Blues and have been for 150 years and not sure why we wore white against the saints

WTF?

Surely the AFL would have had all this planned out when the fixture is done up. Telling clubs what to wear a few days before a match is lunacy.

Quite frankly, reading that I'd be happier wearing the Navy Blue and sending a $500K FLOWER YOU to the AFL.

That said, I really don't mind the white jumper. Just saying.

i can't believe i'm saying this but i'm with melvey on this one. if collingwood don't have to make an alternative strip then we shouldn't either. and i reckon if pratt was the prez when we were told to make these we wouldn't have even made them, not without a fight anyway. i'm not saying it looks better or worse than our original jumper but i just don't like the whole concept of a clash jumper.

Yes, i kind of feel ripped off when they come down West and they play in white like I'm seeing a different team playing.

I dont mind the Jumper and own one but am [REDACTED] of at the club for requesting an official one and being sold the crap AFL one not the one the Players wear.

That being said why the @#$%&! would anyone one feel we need a clash jumper against St Kilda - it made it more of a problem than less with their current @#$%&! strip. What a lot of poo.

As a youngster I thought one of the most pathetic sights in football was South Melbourne with their white jumper and white shorts, especially in contrast to our navy blue rig.

If we must wear a white jumper, at least let us wear blue shorts.

I personally like the white.

It matches the flag we raise after half time every game.

They make fat players look fat. The navy blue one tends to hide it somewhat.

I don't really have an issue with the white outfit.
