Having to wear that rather vulgar white strip is extreme bad luck and quite inexplicable.

As for the other 'bad luck' stories mentioned in this thread, it really does sound like whingeing. Similar to a blackjack player complaining about the bad hands he/she receives, but ignoring the lucky ones that go his/her way.

I reckon it's good to have a little lighthearted banter given we're struggling to even get close to a win.

This is a big one, it gives the other team substantial momentum into the next quarter. Seems to happen almost every week.

The bigger issue though is goals scored against in the last five minutes of each quarter. Would be great if someone could possibly do a study of it, but late goals seem to kill us.

J I can tell you why. 5 minutes to go in the first quarter and we started to run the clock down!!!!!!! I was livid! We chipped it around waiting for the siren...they ended up scoring two goals! I don't think they know the game lasts four quarters. :lol:

It's because we are a shit team at the moment and have been for a few years now and will be for a few more...it won't last forever and when the tide turns so will these unlucky occurences that you seem to feel keep happening to us.

Negativity breads negativity...apart from a key position player or two what we most need now is mental strength more than anything else.

Sh*t Coaching.

Having our top forwards in the backline ala Waite and Houla, instead in the forward line.

Concentrating more in not loosing the game by a big margin rather than having the right forwards and backups for Fev, so maybe we end up with a winning score, of course loosing Walker didn’t help, if the Club was worried so much about our Backline maybe they should have left Lappin and Whitnall on the list as a backup.

Watching the guys struggle to hold a team and be close to them through a qtr, only to give away 2-4 junk-time goals and allow them to get a near insurmountable lead as a result.

Letting any team get a 6-goal start in a match, then fighting hard through the rest of the match to lose by 4 goals. Over the last 2 years, we've given far too many teams starts, and more often than not, it's cost us matches that end up being "coulda, shoulda, woulda....but didn't" matches.

game plan has gone from bad to worse....players don't seem confident in Ratts philosophy whatsoever. IMHO excuses are over; it's time for RESULTS

Having to look at the record because i can't remember who 18,20 36, 16, 15 22, 21, 40, 26 and 38 are and they are not instantly recognisable by and having to ask the people around me 'who was that?' and then watching long time carlton fans look at their records too

Maybe, its because we don't have that many tricks up our sleeves... Two runners and a few good on-field communicators can relay and implement a game-plan in the short time between a goal being scored and the ball being bounced.

Maybe we need a few more of those working gamedays. Perhaps we could get one of them to come up with a forward structure that is a little more inventive than the odd dummy lead.

- the frequency with which an opposition suffers a massive loss (ie 99 points) and we play them the week after, following media scrutiny, when they are invariably keen to make amends;
- the amount of time an average player plays 1 good game in his career and it is against us (and then we recruit him);
- our capacity to play an out of form oppositon player back into form;
- Frequency with which we take a mark just outside of scoring range as the siren goes (as opposed to opposition who kick a goal as the siren goes);
- Ruck decisions - you know where each ruckmen is holding or shoving an elbow in opponents face, both equally at fault, but the umpires call is "nah your all over him {insert Setanta, Cloke, French, Ackland, Mclaren}'
- Our capacity to hit the post....Last Year in particular we seemed to hit the post with alarming regularity ( I think one game we came close to the record)

From set shots?

Mental pressure. Most set shots are taken when they are already 8 goals in front - they are usually kicking with a grin on their faces.

What about our defenders inability to stand goalside when they kick to the top of the square :roll: . We either a) don't have anyone there when the ball falls to the back allowing an easy goal, or b) there is no-one to feed the ball backward to in hte unlikely event that we crumb the pack :roll: .

SOMEONE MUST BE GOAL @#$%&! SIDE!!!

Players handing the ball back to the umpire ready for a ball-up.

The umpire does not wait for the player to get back into position, but bounces as soon as he (the umpire ) is ready.

Leave the ball on the ground and have the umpire pick it up. I'm sure this is permitted. Might only give the player(s) an extra second or two, but this could be useful.
