In our rare recent victories, Lappin, Whitnall and Kouta have been prominent. All are now gone. Also Kennedy is gone. Waite is now a defender.

Basically we don't have a forward line. We need Kruezer to be an instant forward line success!

I also wonder whether it would have been worth our while chasing Scotty Welsh in the psd? (I reckon we may have still got Pfeiffer in the rookie draft).

How refreshing and exciting would our side look with Walks, Murph, Gibbs, Kennedy, Cotchin and Palmer in it.

Agree with Melvey. Russell is a dud. A total flower up. Anyone who holds a belief contrary to this is delusional.

Played alright tonight i thought, i must be delusional.

yeah you must be.... he was terrible....

its ok getting receives wide..and still being impotent... but he doesnt stand up.... fourth year player???.. hes not a kid anymore...

Banno - has several years in the system
Russell - is in his third and played 15 games?

he is still a kid and people expect to much of him, when he does actually gets the ball he uses it very well.

but his downfall is he doenst get it enough nor does he do enough to get it.

not all players have to get huge numbers for me to notice them, i look for passages of play, rather than huge numbers.

i dont care for high possie games, out of any of the kids, i want to see them use the ball well when he gets it, and he does do that, he just doesnt run hard enough, he doesnt present enough.

just as i want to see Murph get the ball and use ti well
or gibbs, or bower, or edwards etc.. etc..

when he gets it, he uses it well, however, at the moment, he doesnt do enough running or present himself anywhere near enough and that isnt good enough.

at this rate i dont think he will be at the club next year.

Russell, skill wise is far from a dud, he would be one of the better uses of the ball in our team.

however, currently and this is where he needs to improve, he doesnt run hard enough or present himself anywhere near enough and that is poor, but he does have more than decent skills.

I think people also underrate how much we could've done with Jamo tonight. The fact that we held Kosi and the crybaby to bugger all is definitely a pro, but the fact that we let Gehrig and the MIlne kick 4-5 each is a definite con.

i'm sorry but it would. Im sick of the usual suspects going round, nothing has changed and it wont. You cant teach an old dog new tricks, especially for third time round.

Pro/CON I shall name thee "Bomb it long BowerBird".. nah i love him, huge fan. He kept getting possession and taking them on from the half back, but yeah, he'd just bomb it. Needs to learn to size up his options. I love watching him.

Whinge Please everyone remember Stevens was out all last year with a broken back...flower lay off.

Con/paranoia Russell did no more than he has ever done before, getting a little concerned.

Cons

Last week we managed 1 and a half quarters before we ran out of puff. This week it was just a half-quarter.

We play a horrible style of football. Nobody played on except for Pfiefer once in the last quarter.

Smashed at the clearances again.

Forward line is a mess and will be all season.

Much harder to rationlise away this loss compared to last week.

Pro's

Pfeiffer redeeming himself after a 1st qtr howler

Cloke's workrate

Eddie continually presented

Con's

Shit game plan of holding onto the ball waiting for options while the opposition flood our attacking space ...SHIT GAME PLAN! ...SHIT TO WATCH!!

A soft and unacceptable level of committment and intensity by the majority of players. Members deserve a portion of their membership fees back after that effort from the coaches and players.

Judd looked less fit than last week.

Pros
Cloke, Pfeiffer, Waite, Thornton, Betts, Hadley(early)

Cons

Too many to mention but in a nutshell

We are soft and thats the worst thing

If Ratten is far dinkum about the club going forward then players who dont chase and tackle need to be dropped.

Judd is clearly unfit and looked better last week. Cant kick it 40m.
Shouldnt he still be getting his groin fully right
Fevola hopefully will be delisted. his first half efforts were a disgrace Had enough of him once and for all.

The MC need to show that half arse efforts will not be tolerated buy dropping players. No point having a game plan . You have got to have players willing to show they mean business first.

Can't see how bower can be singled out for attack on tonight's game. he was one of the few players to give us run and carry off the half-back line through the middle. at least he creates. no-one hit targets inside fwd 50 really.

TheBluesMuse - as for laying off stevens, well, we all know that he was seriously injured last year. BUT so what? If he is not ready to play, or needs game time out of the heat of the 1s, let's give it to him. He should play the next 3-4 games in the Antz in my opinion until he: (a) gets match fit and (b) reaffirms that he is able to and wants to play AFL footy.

Also, can't agree with over-criticism of Betts' game tonight. At least he lead up the ground and presented - same can't be said of others.

Judd looked terrible out there tonight, didn't he Melvey? Or are you going to tell us some masterplan where we could could have kept Kennedy and Pick 3 and still got Judd?

Judd and Simpson are the only guys out there the younger players can look to for an example of what its going to take for them to make it.

I thought he played alright too but I watched it on TV so I must be delusional X 2.

It disappoints me that JR appears to be the whipping boy for some TCers.

Pros - the improvement in our kids. Special mention about
-Pfeiifer's first game - he's committed
- Cloke's all round performance - he's committed
- Waite at CHB - suits him. He's a gun
Cons - our senior players showed poor skills/commitment/leadership
- Scotland, Carrazzo, Houlahan, Stevens deserve mention in this regard

JR was very average.... he had an opportunity to assert himself with a goal and he missed.
He just cant do anything that stamps him as an AFL footballer..

Pros
- Cloke, Pfeiffer, Waite, Thornton, Betts, Murphy and Gibbs all played well.
- Bower improving.
- Hampson shows plenty of promise.
- Kreuzer coming into the side next week which should give us a tall forward option (I know we shouldn't be relying on a first year player).
- Overall our defence was OK considering the poor performance/lack of pressure from our midfield.

Cons

- Judd is clearly unfit and looked better last week which is a real worry.
- Carazzo and Stevens were both very poor whilst Scotland and Houlihan were below par. I think Carazzo needs a spell for the Bullants and probably should be replaced by Bentick.
- Fevola had little impact and unfortunately has minimal trade value.

Russell was not our worst player. I am a bit concerned he was knocked off the ball early on, however he presented well and just like Ratten, i think Russell should play and build his deficiencies. If he doesnt eventually make it then Mr Hughes will get another black mark from me

Murphy looks very slow too. When we don't have the ball he is just jogging around. He must be thinking about what position to put himself into incase there is a turnover. He is too slow to run, chase and tackle.
