If not I hope we do not go in with Cloke and Setanta or we may as well get ready for a belting.

Pros
Our kick-ins after behinds were more effective than they ever were when Pagan was in charge.

Fevola tried to win the ball instead of whinging to the umpires or staging for free kicks.

The interchanging appeared to run smoothly and actually seemed to be organised.

Early in the game at least, when a player was outnumbered and an opponent had the ball the player consistently took one of the opponents out of the play instead of running around in circles.

Cloke and Setanta were more competitive in ruck contests than they have been previously.

Stevens looked heavy and stiff...think he needs some more games to get condition and to get some confidence that his neck is right before he starts laying some body on opposing players....understandable given the serious nature of his injury.
I thought a few players sat back and thought we have Chris Judd..he will run tackle chase, get the ball in the packs etc etc......he probably will do all those things but wont last the season if the others dont pull their weight..

Sorry Elwood Stevens has been a regular at it since he's been at Carlton well before the injury.

Pros
Kade Simpson - Blokes a jet
Edwards - Showed enough, presented well
Juddy - First game back much better than expected, concerns about groin put to rest
All in all we showed what is to come, just a question as to when we will be able to do it for more than 15 minutes.

CONS - Were very worrying
Defensive pressure and intensity was almost non existent. This made it seem as though Richmond had all the time in the world and allowed them to play much better than they really are. Tackling was weak as urine. This should be the opposite with a young team in round one.
Compare to the Essendon* Kangaroos game. Every player on the field put their heart and soul in and worked their guts out. The intensity, enthusiasm and pressure that both teams put on was a pleasure to watch. This forced a lot of turnovers and there was ferocious, hard tackling. WHY WEREN'T OUR PLAYERS WORKING THIS HARD?
This to me was the most worrying part

Yep.

I hate watching 'some' midfielders canter around the fringes looking for easy kicks.

We need 4 more Simmo like players.

With heads over the ball.
