Glad to hear it, but the fact remains your relationship to him changes your relationship to those at the ground - can't be helped. Just as if a son of mine (heaven forbid!) became an umpire it would change how I'd take the slanging that happens towards umpires.

antisocial behaviour - here is an example. Coming from a very Irish catholic working class family it is antisocial to swear in front of women.

Having worked, been educated and performed with many women, they'd bash the flower out of me if I were to tell them that!

Two circumstances, two different ideas of antisocial behaviour. (and why the flower is the spellcheck telling me behaviour has no u?)

Sweet, but how does all this stuiff make CFC supporters less dopey and feral?
Not have a players parent be honest?

There was a bloke in the Social Club in the Hassett room on thursday night who was just about as bad as I have seen at the footy and like most here I am sure we can all give examples of nutters.

This guy was slamming stubbies on tables and basically calling the team as a whole some of the most disgusting things.

Complete contrast to Sid Jackson who was at the other side of the room who as always was a gentleman.

Yeah, can relate to that, the indigenous round last year(Vs.Adelaide),had the priviledge of sitting with the President and Syd(aka as the acceptable face of black Australia).

My earliest football memory was of Syd Jackson kicking for goal in the George Harris Stand FP, missing, and clocking me in the head. I was five, and I think I might have cried.

I've always wanted to tell him that.

JohnM

A few years after we first became members, we received new seats at PP. This was around '95-'97. The family/friends group in front of us were the most vocal/derogatory/bunch of sad sacks I had encountered. We eventually got our seats moved.

I think that footy fans are generally feral...but we have had the luxury of being successful. Now that we are experiencing a prolonged bout down at the bottom, the feralness is pushing its way through more frequently.

It's very ugly.

I don't get bagging your own players, when there are so many opposition players to choose from.

Not to mention maggots like goldspink.

About the worst I'll come up with is a quiet shake of the head (as Mick Martyn lumbered around for us en route to game 300) or a 'head buried in hands' (during Earl Spalding's first year kicking for goal) or a muttered 'please please make it stop' as a clearly past-it Daniel Harford was played in the last line of defence. Poor bastard.

I called Carlton today and they were nice enough to change my seats for me. I no longer have to sit near these so called " supporters ". Thank you CFC.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but on the chance you're not - I agree.

Swearing is a trivial part of life and although unpleasant at times, is hardly a strong enough argument to not want to take the kids to the footy.

I have an 11 year old daughter and I would hope my upbringing of her, doing my job of teaching right from wrong and having some faith in my own abilities and her intelligence to accept that clearly negates an influence some strangers potty mouth will have on her.

People swear. Get over it! Teach your children not to swear, and do your job properly, then I don't see a problem.

My child judges much more harshly those who bag their own team, and worse still LEAVING EARLY than the odd f-bomb dropped on a Saturday afternoon.

I left after the 2nd goal in the last...

Shouldve left at half time really...
