not sure how true this is... my girlfriends brother told me he has heard Fev looking for a new manager with international credentials hence why he parted ways with Connors.

Fev is fooling himself if he thinks he is just going to waltz to the US and be guaranteed anything from an NFL team.

Only those close to Sav know how much of an achievement it was for him to secure a birth in the NFL. It takes more than a strong leg -- and to that end, Sav arguably has a much stronger leg than Fev. It takes dedication to learn a completely new skillset -- kicking off three steps, releasing the ball in 1.3 sec, learning to hold for the kicker, etc. It also takes a supportive family to help with the transition to a new culture and sport, getting kids into the American education system, finding a new place to live.

For all of that, Fev would end up taking a significant pay cut for the pleasure. The rookie minimum in the NFL is about 285,000 assuming one plays all games. Given that Fev is completely unproven he could expect nothing more. It's only once you have proven yourself will a team give you a signing bonus and a long term deal that Ben Graham has and even Benny is fighting for his place at that moment and can be cut at any time without seeing another cent of his lucrative contract.

I didn't like the tenor of the interview because rather than seeking redemption, he intimated that he will be looking to do a runner at the end of the year which would be a terrible result for the club.

Got me. Im lying. Because I have nothing better to do then claim I saw two footballers out on Saturday night when in fact it was all part of my plan to trick all of you.
Just for your info- the family home Kane was conceivably at was a couple of minutes away from Fitzroy St (where I saw him) and also the St Kilda Rd police station (where he pissed.)

Fev probably thinks in a professional sporting code that fosters drive-by shootings, illegal dog-fighting rings, rampant steroid abuse and countless other felonies, a little public pissing every now and again would obviously be tolerated.

Trouble is, over here he's a big swinging dick: a full-forward. Over there, he'd be the lowliest member of the squad who'd have to do everything right all the time to stay on the list.

Good luck with that Fev. If I managed you, I'd advise you to knuckle down and squeeze every last $$ out of your AFL career before contemplating a move to the NFL.

Anyway - I'm so over Fev it's not funny. Just wish we could have a squad of 38 all working together, rather than one guy who for whatever reason continues to be a focal point of our club.

There's no doubt JohnM that players have a much longer leash in the NFL than in the AFL.

I guess the point that I was trying to emphasize that it is much harder than people think to make it work. Sav was 2 days from going home until he got a tryout with the Eagles. His story could have been much different if not for that turn of fate.

The other point I was trying to make make is that if Fev can't stay on the straight and narrow in Oz with whatever support network he has, he will find the move to the US a real challenge. His ego will not be massaged as a punter and adapting to a new lifestyle and sport without friends or family really tests your mettle. I doubt Fev has the fortitude to flourish under those conditions.

My advice to him is play footy for the next 5 years, create a legacy based on your deeds rather than your misdemeanors and then if an opportunity presents itself to prolong your professional career for another 10 years take it then. Hopefully by then he will have his head screwed on straight and be mature enough to rise to the challenge. Any advice to contrary by his manager would be bad advice.

Dont think Fev will make it as a punter in the NFL. I think his groin injuries have taken a bit off the length of his kicks and he isn't as accurate as previous.

Not sure if he will recover completely from these injuries, especially the last one. But if he thinks he can make good luck to him. Hope he can hang around at least for another couple of years and be a part of our improvement (if not more)

That's if you believe the offers even existed....

I was more interested in reading that at least 2 afl clubs have shown interest. Augurs well for the blues if Fev can have a solid season

There is a fair distance between the St.Kilda Road police station and Fitzroy street. Josh I think you saw the wrong Tiger. He has travelled a long way for a home party.

(some selective quoting) But i am with Fj on this Fev would not make it in the world of NFL. His kicking is no where near as strong or accurate as Rocca or Graham. He will be a very small cog in the NFL unit and they will not bend to his will like the baggers too. Even my yankie partmer who thinks Fev is the ants pants is just shakin her head at him attempting to become a player here.

The problem with that is that his contract expires at the end of this season...Probably after trade week.

Can we rely on Fev to do the right thing by the club and ensure we get compensated, god knows the Carlton FC deserve it after the chances they have given him....

Maybe we can get him to sign a short term contract to cover our asses....

As has been said, Capper had two really good years and a lot of ordinary ones. Comparing Fevola with Richardson is quite an interesting thing though:

The yellow column represents when Richo peaked. The red arrows give an indication as to the overall trend thereafter. Richo levelled a little after that and slowly began his decline.

Fevola on the other hand is still on the way up.

Impressive use of the graph there Verbs ( I love a good graph)- but you are assumming Fevola's output is going to increase- based on the 06 -07 he has already peeked and is on the way down

Did you fail Year 7 Maths? The graph shows that he has!!!!!!!??????????

Fev's goal average (that is what the graph is about and the numbers on the vertical axis) is now higher than Richo's!
