Let's not overestimate TC's importance. There are about 2,000 "members" registered on this site. Let's say 1,000 of them read/post regularly. That's a pretty small proportion of the 500,000 CFC supporters around the world.

TC is a great unofficial site, but you gotta admit it's for the tragics (like me)

It's also the tragics who tend to vote and attend AGM's. The majority of the 500,000 are followers primarily and wouldn't have the passion the majority of TC posters have.

There'd also be a healthy number of visitors who never sign up but read team selections, board news etc intently.

I was always a bit jealous about the Saints board when whatsisname, uh ... Grant Thomas posted there. I felt it sort of validated the site somehow. Not sure whether he still appears there.

For that reason I get a kick out of reading the posts from StephenM etc - probably for the same reason.

It's like when you're at work and you bitch about 'how things are done around here' and then the boss suddenly sits you down and says "So, what do you think of the place? Any suggestions to make it better?". I get that feeling on TC - you have a bit of a gossip with your workmates AND you get the opportunity to chat with big fellas WHEN IT'S REALLY NECESSARY.

On another note, I also find the reference to Cain Ackland as ... yeah nah, I can't say it actually ... to be completely offensive - and I reckon I'm usually pretty unoffensible!

So where does this lead me in this debate? Apart from the childish name calling - I dig life as it is. Rumours are usually pretty quickly squashed; information is quickly disseminated; and there's an element of the 'outer' about the whole site.

My hat to the moderators - one and all. Absolute legends. If only they could do the flower thing when Cain's (and others) nicknames pop up. So unnecessary.
