Maybe Fev is the answer to the upcoming world water crisis, blueman?

well if his gall bladder was going to bust open and he just had to do it or else an unecessary puddle would have been created that's one thing...but if the rest rooms were only like a couple of hundred meters away that's another thing.

Carlton leaders to decide Brendan Fevola's fate

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/ ... 88,00.html

Quote:
"Fevola swore off alcohol in 2006 before winning the Coleman Medal that year."

Here's your answer. Penalty should be a total abstinence from alcohol for the entire season. It'll stop any problems, and will improve his on field performance.

In relation to his gettin pissed on the eve of the season:
If it was a last piss-up before swearing off the booze for the season proper I'd be okay with that. No-one has suggested that was the case, but still.
In relation to his punishment:
He has gone out and acted like a cock, but I don't believe the club has specific guidelines in regards to curfews and the like. With that in mind, he's just a flower, not a flower who has gone against specific team rules. So, yes, fine him as much as we can and suspend him for a week.

I don't see the point in punishing the young players in the team who want to win by suspending him for longer. We're more likely to win if we play him, and just because he's a flower doesn't mean they should pay for it.

By all menas punish Fev - but not the team.

Now it's been said that the only he thing he truly loves is playing Footy and taking that away from him may hit home. That makes things tricky...

Silly Fev. Should of held it till he arrived at Libba's mailbox.

Seriously you play the best players, he wasn't part of a shooting or bashed anyone. Extra training sessions and 3 weeks match payments fine.

Hmm, maybe he could practice his goal kicking.

He went through a phase where his accuracy was pretty damn good. But for most of last year his goal kicking went down the toilet, pun intended. ANd from what I've seen to date this year his accuracy has not improved.

There is no question about Fev's talent but personally I am sick and tired of his off field antics. We have a young and impressionable group and despite all the assurances from him and co. that he is turned the corner very little has changed.
I am more interested in the decision they make at the end of the year rather than decision they make this week.

i have not read the whole thread, but my initial reaction wass anger followed by surely we can't play him round 1.

now thats i've calmed down a little i think that it is far to important that he plays in the winnable game.

imagine the doom and gloom if we lose this game, how many memberships will that cost us. he needs to play and he owes it to all of us that he has a blinder.

i'd remove him from the leadership group, heavly fine him (the max amount the afl allows), and hang a 2 game suspended sentence over him and if he screws up again we just have to wear the loss

I bet that's the same thought process that Geelong went through when Gazza was playing up... Den Den probably had a similar conundrum on his hands in the Duck days.... and the thousands of players before that (as many will no doubt add).

High profile athletes - be it national, international, or the bloke who kicked a bag for Manangatang - are placed on a higher pedestal than the rest of society and in some ways it might seem unfair.... However, I doubt you will hear too many kids or parents of kids raving on about the feats of Joe Bloggs the roadworks man who patched a ripper of a pot hole the other day.

Don't start crying when society starts taking back some of the priveleges that have been offered because you pissed on a shop window. You are a dumb @#$%&! Fev. There were literally 1,000 things you could have done other than piss on a window.

The club and its supporters, your junior club and it's 'mentors', your family, your friends and anyone else who has had an influence on what you call a decision making process deserve to be punished for this. How you do not get the message by now is beyond me.

Perhaps we just tickle him with some wet lettuce???

On top of the fine I would be taking a close look at the contract and finding any means possible to shift every available dollar on to a performance basis that excludes goals kicked. I would then suspend him from any game where he is likely to match up on an opponent that he might get a kick against.

Restraint of brain results in restraint of trade.

Swann and Co must be tearing their hair out. So much good has come to this place in the last 6 months and a week before Rd 1 he goes and does this.

What a selfish P#$@K.

If we have seriously moved forward as a club he MUST be dropped from the leadership group and dropped for atleast Rd 1. A week or two training and playing Bullants should do him some good.

People who say we need him this week and for that reason he should play are kidding themselves, there is a bigger picture here.

It should not be then automatic that he comes back. He has to prove himself to the other players. Much like Geelong did with Steve Johnson.

This is not just about Fev but about the NEW Carlton FC.

This has to be his last chance and they need to make it clear!!!!

There is still a substantial core of Carlton supporters who have hated Fev since the day he stepped into Princes Park.

Nothing is going to change that, just look at this thread all the usual suspects saying exactly the same thing they say every time Fev does something stupid. You could set your clock by it!

I suspect that Fev is one of those player who is hated more by his own supporters than by opposition supporters.

I'm not a big one for suspending players. I think that punishes his team-mates. Wouldn't it be a more effective sanction to let him play, but not pay him? I'm not sure if the Players Association would allow it, but I'd withhold his player payments for 2 or 3 games (and maybe donate the money to a charity?).

I would also cut him from the leadership group, or perhaps suspend him indefinitely from the leadership group (ie. until the rest of the leadership say he can return to the fold), and compel him to take up some sort of alcohol/behaviour counselling.

Look, it's hardly the crime of the century, but it was flowering dumb. To be out to 4am (less than a week before Round 1!! ) is bad enough, but pissing in public just makes it worse. If the penny hasn't dropped yet, you wonder if it ever will with the big fella.... :?

Imagine the chief executive at Hyundai and Optus picking up the paper today and seeing this Carlton player splashed across several newspapers with their logo on our jumper and the player in question accused of urinating in public.
Fevola is a leopard.

I seriously doubt that, Jars. I get pissed at Fev, yes I admit it, but that's because he's been given upteen chances and pissed them all up against the wall.

Having said that, I hopoe the leadership group have a bit of a chuckle and fine him $5k and get on with the business of winning games of footy. When this sort of thing happened in the 70s or 80s, we wouldn't have even heard about it. Thank god for Hutchy  - the new fat turd

Maybe the leadership group should let Fev hand out his punishment. Let him think about what sort of idiot he is.

He can either nominate a game amount or dollar amount that he thinks suits the crime and put it to bed.

I can only speak for myself but I would have the same attitude towards any player on our list who repeatedly made the news for all the wrong reasons.
