Has nothing to do with this - wayne carey (allegedly) smashed a bottle in his (allegedly) skanky girlfriends face - doesnt mean other players are allowed to hit women.

I think its time we do what the Cats did with Steve Johnson, boot him out of the club completely for 6 matches and see how he goes, it worked wonders for them. Its such a bloody shame he does this all the time because he is so talented.

I agree mate!

Could be a great of the game but he has that bogan mentality.

Has everything going for him but sh!t for brains!

Why do I have to pay good money for my membership year in year out to see Brendan pissing on CCTV in which he most likely be suspended miss a game against the tigers and risk of the WHOLE team losing?? How is that leadership?

Ratten should know better before including him in the leadership group!

The guy obviously does not value off field the same way as everyone else.

The shame is if we sacked him he would get a chance and succeed in some way or another on field somewhere else.

If Chris Judd and and the rebirth of the club doesn't drive it home then what will.

Let him play Round One, the club needs his focus in the forward line.

He must look Brett Ratten, Richard Pratt and Chris Judd in the eye and tell them where he wants to be.

Lets face it, he has to know the score by now, there is not much left to offer him, this pre season offered him so much hope, and he hasn't grasped it with both hands.

The reality is those that have so much talent are always offered so many more chances than those without - right or wrong.

He must play, that is his only value to us at the moment and the only redemption card.

If Pratt, Swann, Ratten and Co see nothing is getting through I fear the club will be left with no option as the year unfolds.

This could not have come at a better time in my opinion.

It will show how big Rattens balls are.
If we are really planning for the future than D*** H**** like Fev cannot be tolerated. We are unlikely to play finals this year so here is a chance to set the tone for the next few years.
Stuff leaving it to the "leadership group" to determine his penalty. They are the same group of fellow footballing knobs who elected him into the leadership group. If his peers had any nouse at all we wouldnt be refering to this clown as a leader in the first place.
Ratten has to take charge here and set the tone for the next few years.

I would love to see a 4-6 week holiday than have the clown work his way back into the team via the VFL.

Gonna have to draw the line here, Shane Warne is the biggest lad going around. He was just a normal chubby kid out of St.Kilda who drove himself to be the worlds best - and revived the lost art of leg spin in cricket. He never raised a hand to a woman like Carey and has his own bloody charity. Yeah he's a real wanker.

Hey verbs can you share your wisdom with Fev, because he is lacking in any brains ATM.

Hmm...I could, but then we'd probably hit the piss and both be talking gibberish by 2am.

Lightweight. ;)

be careful mate, her bedroom window is government owned. i dont think the housing commision would like it.

That's hilarious. You should take that show on the road. The comedy festival starts this week. They're looking for new material

I'm not condoning what he did. It's revolting. But this whole rose glasses concept we adopt towards footballers makes me sick. If you read the papers or watch the news every day and see the horrible incidents that occur every day, it kinda puts this story into perspective.

That this is big news proves what a shallow world we live in. And that's sad.

Well, for a Collingwood supporter I can see why you think this is not a big deal. Your lads have raised the bar as far as off field incidents go.

;)

True, being wasted in cars that shoot at cops just beats burglarising team mates homes -

As for Fev - we pretended for years that Tarrant would change and that his antics "never really harmed anyone". But that isn't the real issue, sure, most of this stuff that Fev gets pinged for is harmless, but not presenting yourself in the absolute best condition to train and play is the real crime and this is what Carlton should be mighty pissed off about.

Like Tarrant, we may have to cling on to the the sporadic highlights of Fev rather than marvel at a career full of sensational forward play.

But Tarrant is no good.....never was.. never will be...

...and now that he has left the club, Pies supporters will 100% agree. :P

For some reason I have doubts as to whether this approach would work with Fev. I'd be worried he'd totally go off the rails without football...

*sigh*

There will be a player code of conduct that would have been put in place over summer that will essentially determine his punishment.

The issue is not so much pissing in public, it is (a) pissing on the window of an establishment, in front of customers, (b) at 4am, less than a week before the season starts. Unacceptable.

And still some on here defend him.

My personal opinion...we have lacked leadership and discipline for too long. If we truly believe that this is the dawn of a new age, then we must be strong and unforgiving when it comes to discipline...ne exceptions. Fevola should be punished severely. And the punishment must also penalise the Club, not just him. Maybe then he will start to understand that his actions affect everyone at the Club, and those who support it, members and sponsors.

As for those who suggest to trade him at the end of the year...sorry to open up a can of old worms, but...

There were those who were suggesting he be traded after the Freo game last year, after which he was suspended by the Club. In that argument (Exsing and myself, amongst others) it was put that IF he was to be traded, it had to be at the end of last season. Another season of misbehaviour, plus falling out of contract at the end of this year, would greatly diminish his value. And that is where it is at. If he has another year of undisciplined behaviour, and we decide to trade, he has lost currency, AND will be out of contract at the end of the year...the worst position to be in to try to negotiate a favourable trade.

Now I am not saying we should trade him (and once it became clear that we would land Judd, I changed my tune and thought we should keep him), but I am pointing out that those who were concerned that his behaviour wouldn't improve, and that he would lose 'potential' currency, may yet be proven right. Certainly this latest incident is not good indicator.

Personally, I don't like Fevola. He is petulant, immature, selfish and stupid. Has been for years. It just so happens that he is one of our best players, and we desperately need him. However, I would have no issue with the Club suspending him for 4 weeks, just to make a point, to make a stand, and to declare to all and sundry, that this is Carlton, and if we are serious about a rebirth, then this kind of crap simply IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

And I hope Judd takes the lead here, and is the one to deliver the news to Fevola. Maybe a punishment coming from Judd will embarrass him enough to make him change his ways.

We're not going to win a premiership this year, so you have to weigh up the impact:
- How many memberships will fevolas stupidity cost the club?
- How many memberships might it cost the club to not play him for a couple of matches and forgo a few wins?

Food for thought...

I must admit, it's pretty poor timing by the lad, he really know's how to flower things up

It doesn't matter what the footage showed. The important thing is the time up the top- 4.20 am 5 days before Round 1. Do you think that sets a good example to the younger players? Stop making excuses for him. How many more times should he be allowed to keep doing these things?

what a stupid @#$%&!. the guy is a @#$%&! ing idiot.

what do we do?? throw away any chance of winning to prove a point?

kick him out of the leadership group.

is it enough?

take the geelong approach....

problem with that is that steve johnson wasn't the only available key forward. would they have taken the same approach if cam mooney was out with an injury, nathan ablett had gone bush and paul chapman was suspended? i wonder.

suspending players is a new fad IMO because it worked for a season and steve johnson had a great year......

did it have a lasting affect? arguable given that he got done at twice the speed limit a couple of months after season end.

once a flower always a flower.

back to our flower, i'd prefer that we took the (cough) collingwood approach and not penalise the team for fev being a flower.

i don't know what the answer is. i don't know that we can change him. he is a knob and its an issue that we don't need 3 days before the season.

but what do you do.

i love that caro thinks we should suspend him. no bias there is there caro?

Good post Cranium.

Yeah, old Caro is hoping that the powers that be at Carlton listen to her and suspend him so that ninthmond have a chance on Thursday.

Silly Fev. Should of held it till he arrived at Libba's mailbox.

Seriously you play the best players, he wasn't part of a shooting or bashed anyone. Extra training sessions and 3 weeks match payments fine.
