DOA it is good to have you online and telling us all how young Andrew is doing... And I just wanted to add my voice to those wishing your lad a speedy recovery... Tex is one of the boys we need out there for the club as soon and as regularly as possible... Good luck Tex.. Get well soon...

Some people just have shit luck with injuries, Andrew seems to be one of those. Lets hope his recovery is quick and complete.

Confirmed by the club in media release Andrew Walker out for up to three months

Following further consultation with his specialist today, Andrew Walker is to undergo surgery on his injured right shoulder. Walker will be operated on as soon as possible and is expected to be sidelined for up to three months.

Walker injured his shoulder in the NAB Challenge match against the Western Bulldogs at MC Labour Park on Friday night. It is the same shoulder that required surgery prior to Christmas and an injury that had restricted his early pre-season training.

Friday night was only Walker’s second match back after the surgery late last year.

I am so very sorry for Andrew.

Such rough luck for a class player.

I thought it might be a shorter time on the injury list, but then again, 3 months isnt a disaster.

I suppose it won't be until some time in June that we see him on the field again. It's unfortunate it's going to slow his march to 100 games but never fear. Silvagni not only had a knee reconstruction but both shoulders reconstructed, one of them maybe even twice.

12 weeks is only a small speed hump on a long career.

exactly. No matter how good or bad the team is doing in 3 months we have something to look forward to.

IIRC correctly, last year around round 15 Andrew missed a couple of games with a bad shoulder.

Then we brought him back and he played most of the rest of the year before having surgery on his shoulder pre-Christmas.

How come we didn't get his injury seen to properly in July/August?

I thought we were supposed to be tanking? If so, we can't even do that right!

From today’s “Sunday Sun”

Quote:
ANDREW Walker expects to be running in under a month after successful shoulder surgery on Wednesday.
Walker fell awkwardly in a practice match at Princes Park 10 days ago, re-injuring the same shoulder he had operated on late last year.
"I should be back to full running in three to four weeks," he said. "The sling will come off in two."
He had just started intensive training, recovering from the previous operation.
"I'm shattered but I've just to get on with rehab and life," he said.
Walker opted to change surgeons second time around.
"Yeah, I got Greg Hoy to do it. It feels a lot better than the last surgery, much more stable," he said.
The 21 year-old said he would have a different approach to his rehab.
"I'm going to get straight back into it," he said.
"I made a mistake last time taking two weeks off.
"I'm desperate to play the entire second half of the season."

I believe SOS had 9 major operations. I remember reading an article in the Age or Herald Sun where they had a picture of SOS and marked all the areas of the body where had severe injuries and\or been operated on. Whole body had been through the mill. Makes the SOS legend even greater - he went through a world of hurt.

Besides another player getting a chance to fill Walkers position, it means we get a boost half way through the season when Walker returns.

Over the last few years I think we have missed getting an injection of enthusiasm when we needed it. Walker will give us that mid way through the year. So its something to look forward to.

Get well soon!

This glass is definitely half full.

Question: Was Cordy in on Warney's shoulder reco when he was at Cricket Australia?... Yay or nay, the bottom line is that Tex is in good hands - make no mistake, Mr. Cordy is the best in the business.

10-12 weeks on the sideline - ample time for a young family to sneak in a trip to the zoo

good luck Tex.

No shortcuts here - do the hard yards and come back bigger; stronger and better.

This creates an opportunity for others.
