Libba is not too bright . He got the most out of himself as a footballer but doesn't seem to have thought through this issue. Why would you agree to an interview without asking what the reporter wanted to talk about? Libba got some headlines but did he want to make a career as a coach in the AFL? If he'd shut his mouth he may perhaps have got a job at some club as an assistant given his background and experience but now he has finished his career in AFL football as no club will come near him.

I don't think Eddie McGuire would want to make a comment in support. After all it was Collingwood who went from losing a grand final to getting a priority pick the year afterwards and made the AFL change the priority pick system to spread it over two years. Perhaps he has forgotten that it was also his club who at the half way point of the season wrote the year off and started sending senior players off for surgery and playing the kids. It got them Thomas and Pendlebury in the first round of the draft by finshing down the bottom.

How funny would it be if Richmond finish last and our name comes out of the hat for the no.1 pick??

Stop quoting Mav from CSC.

:garthp:

I am not even a member at CSC and thus have never visited a single thread on it.

I know it's hard to imagine, but two people CAN have the same thought without copying each other

AFAIK the AFL and the rest of the 15 clubs and their mentally deficient supporters can go and flower themselves over this issue.

So gleeful, cheerful and happy they all were Black Friday 2002 to completely screw us sideways.

What were the words used:

- operating outside the rules and system.
- systemic rorting
- integrity of the rules of competition.

Here we are 5 years later - operating WITHIN the rules that the peanuts set up in the first place to REBUILD our list through judicious list management and the draft and we are still accused of rorting the system.

If the AFL and the peanuts from the 15 other AFL clubs dont like the current system in place - I'm sure our current President and Board would be happy to work at rebuilding our list through a Free Agency Type system - financed by an open cheque book.

Apologies Nick.

I don't post there either, but I do read it sometimes.

Sorry again friend, honest mistake from me.

I noticed with interest Patrick Smith having another go at us.

Why can't he see that the reason the AFL investigated Roos and not us, is because there was explicit evidence of tanking because 4 different people heard Roos tell what his name to not kick a goal.

In contrast, Liberatore has just said he thinks we tanked, it's his opinion.

There's a huge difference there.

The AFL are smart enough to know they should not go close to accusing a club of cheating, unless there is a genuine lead (evidence). Calling someone a cheat is not something you do lightly.

This is so simply, even Patrick has himself confused.

Match Fixing is breaking the AFL rules, everyone knows that. Match fixing requires players involvement to purposely lose a game, it cannot be achieved otherwise eg. Juventus or AC Milan in the Italian Serie A.

Don't try and mix the two Patrick, List Management has far more benefits than a draft pick, just take a look at first 22 to be announced this week. If we didn't blood players we would as supporters again have doubts for progress in 2008, the same old players. As we did blood young players, we know have a core of players in Hampson, Jamison, Grigg, Jackson and Bower who we found out can play the game.

Some lady phoned SEN this morning regarding tanking. She said to look at the last game in 2007 and in the last quarter Marc Murphy had a shot at goal from 20m but because he knew he wasn't supposed to kick a goal he handballed it off

 x 1000

Firstly, she's the first person to actually be dumb enough to acuse the players of tanking and throwing games and secondly if she followed the game she'd know Marc had the yips in front of goal as far back at mid last season, so he'll always be looking to give the ball off.

This is what happens when the media beat this stuff up and morons jump on board with their own theories.

Eddie and the Carlton hating media tries hard to rain our parade, this Hutchy sensation 'Libba has a feeling' before Juddweek and IIRC The "Bull"etin tracked down Lawrence Angwin for a drug revelations article co-incidentaly the week of our final Princes Park game.
How Mcguire could have written that crap in the Herald Sun yesterday is beyond hilarious.

Someone needs to remind Patrick of that R22 Essendon* v Richmond game in 2000, or whenever it was. They conveniently managed to get rolled by the Tigers who scraped into 8th place. The Bumbers, avoiding a clash with Carlton, then funnily enough, played Richmond in week 1 of the finals and comfortably snuck home by 10 goals plus.

He probably knows a thing or two about tanking.

Move along.....nothing to see here!!! The toad has come out and done a double twisting pike backflip worthy of Wiggo's Mrs. Andy Maher had a great couple of grabs this morning on SEN, one of the toad on TFS saying that, in his opinion Carlton tanked followed immediately by a clip from SEN on Sunday where he says that in his opinion Carlton didnt tank.

Clearly the bloke is way out of his depth. He has gone into this thinking he will cause a stir, get revenge, settle scores or just get his name back in the papers but he clearly hasnt thought it all through. If you were a club looking for a coach or assistant, forget the obvious lack of loyalty and confidentiality, the lack of nous in understanding the consequences of your actions should be enough to scare you off.

And with that we bid you adieu oh poisoned dwarf. May you crawl under a dark rock called obscurity and not re-emerge until, many years from now some future incarnation of Footscray is doing its 'olds and bolds' roast at a pie-night somewhere. Thanks for proving that in these heady days of psychometric testing a short, dull and angry ignoramus can still generate a modicum of publicity. The footy is about to start though so move aside.....oh and dont let the cat flap hit you on the @rse on the way out!!!!!

You mean like round 22 2001 when Essendon* (fatprick's team) lost to richmond by 4 goals in suspicious circumstances meaning they would then play them again the following week instead of Carlton had they won?

Dragging Hird when they were down by just 2 goals at the 15 min mark of the last Q?? :?

Would that be considered match fixing? Hmmmmmmmm, I'm sure fat boy will be all over it like flys on a fresh bush turd.

What's more, match fixing requires there to be some sort of knowledge of the fix by members of both teams for it to be successful. As AFL has one of the biggest team structures in sport, it would be enormously hard to mask, let alone achieve.

Consider a team, let's say US  , is two games clear on top of the ladder and is playing the bottom side like, oh - I dunno - Essendon*, would it be match fixing to rest Judd and Fev for a week to help overcome niggles or have a rest? If this resulted in a loss would we face AFL sanctions?

Farcanal!!

The fatflower loves to be a sensationalist and throw around words like match fixing for dramatic effect even though they don’t apply to the circumstances. The thing is that he continues to link team selection to ‘match fixing’ as he likes to describe it and that this aspect warrants some sort of investigation. The thing is who is going to audit whether clubs are selecting ‘winning’ teams? Does every team selected for every round suddenly needs to be evaluated? Will the role of team selection be shared with an AFL appointed audit/evaluation committee to certify that selected squads are the best team selected and have the best chance of winning? How far do you go?

The fatflower can carry on as much as he likes and call for royal commission (WTF!) and throw outrageous claims around but there is nothing to really go on about

They all wanted a socialist system to even up the comp as they all despised clubs like Carlton who knew how to prosper in a fend for yourself environment and now that the system is being exploited (as it should) they want to change it?!!? Give me a break…

Are you talking about the last game of the 2010 season where we end up losing to the Scum, we still retain top spot and they end up losing their PP....

Beautiful

That's the one - Eddie is in the ruck and Saddo is playing in FF  . It will be Saddo's first game for the year.
