Libba lost all credibility with his claims that Carlton were tanking and when he said "Pagan would never coach a team to loose". :?

Well, lets just remind all how Pagan led this club to losses and in the process gained priority picks to get Walker in 2003, Murphy in 2005 and Hampson in 2006. :-D

Maybe it was Libba who taught Pagan how to manage the list and is now pissed that after all his efforts they give him the boot.

This man has now just chewed off the whole arm that fed him. It is obvious from Smorgans comments that he is just money hungry and has no loyality to anyone in the football world.

Finally, his claims of tanking, which he said did not sit well with him came from a man who actually put his hand up for our senior coaching position.

Please explain Libba. :?:

Case Closed: Libba take what dignity you think you may have and stay off media street.

This whole thing was purely an orchestrated attack on Carlton. It's old news and it's been brought back into headlines with less than a week before Carlton's first game. We all know how much they hate us.

All of the above discussion seems to suggest to me if we really wanted to lose the last 6 games we would have kept Pagan as coach instead of sacking him. He may have never coached a team to lose deliberately, but he didn't need to, everything else that was happening (game plan, player's morale, team selections) would have resulted in losses and bad ones. Surely the risk of winning was greater with a new coach!

I am too in favour of a system like the NRL - salary cap but no draft. All is needed is a restriction on trading so players can't sign to one club when they are still in the middle of a season with another. I hate that AFL clubs are rewarded for poor performance, and the restraint on players being able to go to the club they want.

I'd be very tempted to get the boys frothing at the mouth over this myself.

It is either going to be boom or bust I feel.

Froth or a distraction. I hope it is froth.

The AFL couldnt care the less if teams tanked or didnt tank. this whole issue is so critical and serious to the AFL because of one simple thing- Gambling.

the AFL has an agreement with TAB that allows it to make millions of dollars at the expense of the poor Gamblers and addicts, so when a team starts tanking, it causes major Losses to the AFL.

if the AFL were serious about it, they would have known that their system is not working, yet they keep insisting that it does work. how long can they keep a lie?

The whole thing was about sensationalism for the start of the Footy show.
It happens every year.

Good old Garry was shaking his head and saying how terrible it was.
This is a bloke who has been in the system for a very long time, and knows
exactly what goes on in football clubs.
If he was tied up with Melnbourne, he would do anything in or out of the rules,
to get a top player, and/or win a Premiership.

James Brayshaw kept a low profile on this. He also knows very well what goes
on in the system particularly after them trying to shaft his club.
He had the sense to keep his mouth shut.

I seem to remember North and many others sending a few players for operations
when they had no chance of getting in the eight.

If Libba was a witness in a court, the judge would have thrown him out with
the "I had didnt actually hear anything, but I had a sense of it."

For all of them including all clubs.
This is also relevant to bad Friday.

Those without sin cast the first stone.

No surprise, or surprises here from Smith. Reckons the AFL didn't initiate action because of Pratt and calls him the Price Fixer a couple of times again.

System to blame when last place becomes first in line for draft rewards

Quote:
The outcome was the same: the Blues lost their last 11 games and finished on the bottom.

According to Greg Baum in The Age today we finished last in 2007.

Am I on another planet or did Richmond win the spoon last year?

Seriously the standard of sports journalism in this country sucks.

Does Baum get paid to write in The Age or does he do it for kicks

Yes it is very embarrassing when a journo can't get his basic facts right in a major newspaper.

it is time IMO that Demetriou earns some of his 1.4 mil and gets the draft system sorted out. Thats what he gets the big money for. And there is no shortage of ideas that are being bandied around at the moment if he wants inspiration ......

Libba on SEN now!!!

- Struggles to remember some comments from Thursday night clearly yet remembers no discussions on TJ in the Melbourne game based on Ratts comments yesterday.

- Clearly remembers the last few weeks of MC meetings. Alot less intense as such.

- No beef with Carlton Football Club or Ratts

- Still believes is his own personal opinion the way Carlton played kids ahead of other players is his meaning of tanking.

Libba shouldn't even bother wasting the AFL's time. He again reiterated it is all his opinion, nothing of any solid foundation to use as proof.

Eddie McGuire then interviewed:

- Happy AFL is speaking with Libba to clear up comments on Thursday night.

- Something needs to be done about the priority pick. Creates to many problems, all comes from the days of Brisbane Bears and Sydney Swans to make them competitive.

Libba on the radio now.

Will speak to AFL on Tuesday.

Claims he didn't get paid for the interview.

Says he and Ratts were on good terms when Denis' assistants.

Claims he didn't think the interview would be big news...

Claims the only reason he did the interview because Hutchy told him people in and around footy wanted to know.

Claims he's viewed in the football community as honest

He sounds like a complete moron, all he is saying is "I believe.. I reckon.. to me it seems like..."

Pickers pretty much rubbished Libba, Hutchy and the story.

After hearing that interview I am even less concerned about this whole episode than I was before (if that was possible).

I'm not surprised at all. Remember the AFL is big business and there is no way that it was't going to carefully manage this saga. Too much at stake including the AFL's image. Libba is on a hiding to nothing.

One or both of these have to be true.

Otherwise he simply did the interview to rubbish a club that shafted him, not for money or because he is jaded - but because 'people in the football world wanted to know'.

GTFO.

It's a slow news week in football - and that is why it has been dredged up now, and not at the end of last year when it was a fresh story.

"Today's news is tomorrow fish and chip wrapper"?!? I guess the only exception to the rule is if the news involves Carlton.

If we lose against Ninthmond, we should sue his fat arse off for distracting the club.

Libba = Dennis Denuto = "It's the Vibe of the thing".

No evidence, no facts. Just the VIBE.

Listening to some of my favorite lyrics from song writer Mike Cooley made me think about Libba the morning after the FS.

I used to hate the fool in me, but only in the morning
now I tolerate him all day long
