I am getting sick of this Libba thing already, so I just thought I'd ask everyone about what they've experienced lately in regard to people's attitudes changing towards the mighty CFC.

I was out and about the other day at the local flea market with my wife, proudly wearing my CFC shirt of course, and everyone had to stop and talk Carlton with me.

At first I thought it was cool - it hasn't been like that for awhile, but after about the 8th person I needed a breather.

They all wanted to talk about some bloke called Judd.
I said that we had some backup as well with the likes of Stevo, Murphy, Gibbs , etc all likely to have more freedom.

The thing that was clear though was that I could see the fear in their eyes! 8)
I could hear them thinking, " Oh no, Carlton are on the way back."

Has anyone else experienced this over the summer?

"Judd's groin is gone"
"he won't make a difference anyway"
"yeah but Carlton is crap"

my response is always...

"keep trying...you'll nearly convince yourself"

Yeah - I had all that before Christmas "You need all the help you can get," type comments.
Since the preseason started the mood has changed a bit though.
Now people are beginning to realise how good we will be in a season or two. 8)

Many will desperately cling, like an ocean barnacle to a piece of flotsam - to the idea that the 2002 to 2007 world of a celler dweller Carlton still exists - and will stubbornly deny the new, but very clear reality indicated by our onfield performances - plainly showing that those pathetic days will have gone.

However, when we reach the finals for the first time, their small and brittle world views of a weak and impotent Carlton - will be shattered..

But they will not accept this clear and obvious reality.

Their previous state of denial will be replaced by a new and even more stupid state of irrational anger, there will never be any graciousness that accepts that we have rebuilt according to the dictates of the system that the AFL has given us.

It will always be a view that casts Carlton as a cheat and a villan, while other teams in that might have had to endure an extended stay at the bottom of the ladder will be seen in a far more sympathetic light, even though they are and did no different to us in our rebuilding phase. A double standard exists for us because we are successfull...

It will be no good reasoning with these types - they are not capable of changing. The only option open to Carlton supporters will be arrogance - which of course often creates a fear of us in the supporters of the other clubs...

Yeah a mate of mine has been calling me from back in Oz and overstating the extent of Judd's groin blah blah blah. Trying to stir me up etc.

The jealousy is starting to come back, you can just feel it. :-D

Awesome! I gotta try it!

Another upside is that EVERYONE will hate Andy for his role in building a Carlton Dynasty.

Andy's next move to appease the peasants - re-impose the 1st round draft pick bans to hamstring Carlton's runaway success.

All I hope for is many years later when Carlton finally reach even a Grand Final, that some people ring up SEN and 3AW and remind the football public of the times we have gone through to get to a milestone.

I have also thought privately it would be a wonderful idea for supporters to have a banner or sign in the crowd reminding the AFL how many times they have shafted us and how sweet it will be to claim flag number 17!

On a brighter note, the past several years have tested me and my love for the Blues, but I have attended as many games as possible and have sat through some embarrasing and tough defeats. FINALLY, this year things are starting to look positive!

I think back to when I first started following the CFC in 1993. It was a great time to start my fascination with the Blues and I don't think I have ever appreciated winning a game until the last few years. This is what will make Premiership #17 all the more sweeter....

GO BLUES :-D

It'd be far more likely that SEN and 3AW will only receive (or at least filter in) calls calling us cheats for all the draft picks we got that came good and became stars etc etc.

As for the banner, I'd only want a great big middle finger to go on it.

I'm hearing positives about our renaisssance.

I haven't heard anyone calling us cheats (except internet forums and Call back radio when listening to Melb stations).

Strangely, all the many people I know around the country have been quite sympathetic towards ud and what we have endured in the last 5 years.

If anything, over the last 5 years, all friends and people I talk footy to in general have had to hear me talk about us rebuiding, our next flag and how arrogant we will be when we do end up in our rightful spot; at the very top! ...and how we'll stick ithat arrogance up the AFL Commission's arse who thought they'd control us and send us to Sydney or Gold Coast to help them with their big picture plans.

And yes, everyone knows Judd plays for Carlton...even in Sydney.

I love being Carlton.

Today I helped my little fella, named Carlton, fix stickers on mine and his mothers car....poor mum....we're so proud to be a Carlton supporter. The little fella is wearing his stick pin and membership card to day care tomorrow....with a pile of Carlton Stickers.

Perhaps in the style of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin?
