No draft = No tanking.

It's pretty simple really.

No draft = No hope for some of the 16 clubs soon to be 18.

No hope means no club.

Clubs go missing means less money for TV rights.

Less money means etc. etc. etc.

Salary cap and draft must stay.

Priority pick is the tank carrott and needs to go.

You really can't get more simple than that.

Why is there an incentive to tank? To get the earliest pick possible so a club can select the best kids possible.

Okay, say the priority picks are removed ... you reckon if 15th and 16th are playing off in R22 with the result to determine who gets #1 that there won't be a mention of tanking?

Take away the priority pick and the stakes are a hell of alot lower.
The incentive is massive if you need to lose to get the proirity pick. We were playing for Pick 1 AND 3 not just in R22 but since R12. Take away the priority pick and all we would have been playing for was a choice between Pick 1 OR Pick 2 or 3.

Or they could just make the rules more restrictive - for instance increase the number of years that you need to consistently lose in order to qualify, or average the number of losses out over 3 years, etc.

It was Eddie's aim to link the two together

EVERYONE SHOULD WRITE INTO THE FOOTY SHOW AND VENT THEIR SPLEEN AT McCHINS AND ALL AND SUNDRY AT TFS FOR ALLOWING THIS CRAP TO BE AIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Hundreds of letters telling them what they can do with their gutter journalism - nicely worded of course.

Can anyone post the mailing address?

We really do have alot to thank Mr Pratt for.

Ironic really that during the "Investigation & Hearing" by the AFL Commission on Black Friday 2002  - that a completley New Carlton Board went to the Commission with CLEAN HANDS and did the right thing  . Then proceeded to get reamed up the clacker with an object that would make the Queen Mary II look like a bath toy.

The West Coast Eagles - go into their "investigation" with a token change of Chairman - and get pat on the head by the AFL with a "Life of Brian" Centurion admonishing Brian after his Graffite Incident "Dont do it again"

Their is NO FLOWERING JUSTICE in this world.

Jeff Kennett having a crack at Libba now for not resigning when he supposedly said it happened. Also thinks Libba cast a slur over the club last night, thinks it's been blown out of proportion.

Ah Libba, you fool!!

You don't target the show, you target where they will get hurt the most, their Sponsors. Now it would be an exercise in futility, but 100's of letters at Jim Beam etc saying you are not going to buy their product would have them worried!

Just on this the only reason The Spew is going softly softly on this is he is retiring in the next 12 months - and he thinks the Boardrooms of Australia are beckoning hime  - Pratt only has to say the word and these Boardrooms will be closed.

We really do have a lot to thank Mr Pratt for.

Hmmm....

I dunno DUC. I reckon Caro will leave us alone and look at the priority pick system as a whole (although perhaps a few snide references to Carlton in the article... and no mention of Richmond).

On Footy Classified on Monday night, when asked about tanking, she mentioned that the perception was that Carlton had tanked, and Richmond too, for that matter.

If he was really a man of principle as he claims to be, he would've done this to begin with, instead of bending over for that twerp Hutchison.
