So why did he do it?.....he would've ben paid by TFS; but is that all there is?

He is a bitter, vindictive man who has made a fool of himself on National TV.....Australians don't like dobbers and little tell tales.

I reckon he is angling for a job in the media, his footy career is obviously over.

Mike Sheehan quoted a good idea from David King:

http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/mike ... ss_tanking

Quote:
Richmond assistant coach and North Melbourne premiership player David King recognises the problem and sees a solution.
He says the national draft should be brought forward to Round 15, after all clubs have played each other once.
He says there’s a fairness about Round 15 (the fixture used to be based on ladder positions at that point), that, with seven rounds to play, it’s too early to tank and history tells us positions don’t change markedly after that juncture.

But of course the AFL's gone and screwed that up by dicking around with the draw

Fibba, sorry, Libba wont say anything to the AFL becuase they wont pay him for an interview. What a bitter bast*rd he is. Expect a blustering, pompous article from caroline wilson along the lines of 'Libba confirming what the football world suspected all along'

Libba....you dirty rat.....tanks for nothing ...what goeson in the inner sanctum should remain confidential. It reeks of sour grapes and bitterness and while we all know there is an element of truth in what he says its all maybes, I think so's and hearsay...like the Roos affair it will come to nothing apart from the priority pick being scrapped...

Melbourne intend to tank this season and thats comes from a very good source who works for the club in an advisory role....along with removing Paul Gardiner that is their aim for the season..

No draft = No tanking.

It's pretty simple really.

No draft = No hope for some of the 16 clubs soon to be 18.

No hope means no club.

Clubs go missing means less money for TV rights.

Less money means etc. etc. etc.

Salary cap and draft must stay.

Priority pick is the tank carrott and needs to go.

You really can't get more simple than that.

Why is there an incentive to tank? To get the earliest pick possible so a club can select the best kids possible.

Okay, say the priority picks are removed ... you reckon if 15th and 16th are playing off in R22 with the result to determine who gets #1 that there won't be a mention of tanking?

Maybe the lottery system has more merit than I first thought, but either way, having a the current draft system as the only real means of injecting new talent into a club's playing list puts clubs in a position where losing can provide more benefits than winning.

I hate to say it, but the NRL has a salary cap and no draft. How much tanking talk do you hear about in the NRL? While their system is far from perfect, it at least saves clubs from being in a severely compromised position.

If we adopted the NRL system we'd still be having contractual arguments mere weeks before the start of the season (ie. Israel Folau).

I've never been a fan of the whole lottery thing, but I see little choice but to now adopt it. But that presents another problem. What if the team who finishes 13th finishes on 7-8 wins and draws the #1 pick, while the bottom team who might finish with 4-5 wins gets #4? Would that be fair?

Do you give the bottom 4 equal chance, or do you get more chances based on where you finish? If so, would it be inconceivable a team might 'tank' for more chances?

The NBA system in the U.S. is probably the fairest. The bottom team might get 16 balls in the lottery (out of 136), second bottom 15, third bottom 14 and so on......the top team would get only one ball. Balls are picked out and that team gets the draft pick from 1 onwards.

I think its much more weighted to favour the bottom team than that - in the NBA 14 teams qualify for lottery with the following % chances

1. 250 combinations, 25% chance of receiving the #1 pick
2. 199 combinations, 19.9% chance
3. 156 combinations, 15.6% chance
4. 119 combinations, 11.9% chance
5. 88 combinations, 8.8% chance
6. 63 combinations, 6.3% chance
7. 43 combinations, 4.3% chance
8. 28 combinations, 2.8% chance
9. 17 combinations, 1.7% chance
10. 11 combinations, 1.1% chance
11. 8 combinations, 0.8% chance
12. 7 combinations, 0.7% chance
13. 6 combinations, 0.6% chance
14. 5 combinations, 0.5% chance

A similar system for the AFL where only 8-10 (due to comp expansion) teams would mean the lower ranked teams could have higher % chances for #1 pick.

One conversation I wish I could listen to is the one when Dick Pratt gives Libba a call. If we don't hear anything again from Libba you can be sure Dick had a word and scared the living daylights out of him.

It's a grab for attention and credibility on his part. Why else do you think he made such a fuss over being "a pretty honest sort of bloke"? With the Doggies debacle (and the shit going on at Sunbury) he needed a vehicle to get people to like him again.

So Hutchison knocks on the door, and asks "I need a big exclusive to justify my pay on the Footy Show. How would you like to bury Carlton for tanking?". Perfect. An easy target that people hate, national media coverage for me, I can get back at the pricks that sacked me for being a crap coach, and I'll come across as a decent bloke fighting against the evil empire. Let's do it!

I don't know what a former 'champion' in his sporting field, who will be elected as president soon, will feel about this  . I think a competetive person like this will demand a 100% effort every time.

Who wants to predict the headlines in the papers tomorrow by Caro and fatprick?

Caro - As revealed exclusively in The Age, Carlton Tanked 2007
Fatprick - Carlton Tanking confirms that rot starts at the head!

If you consider this storm in a teacup from the perspective of all the terrific things that have happened in the last 12 months or so, such as the arrival of Swann, Pratt and Judd, the great response of us members putting our money up, and the lift in the club's profile, then you can keep fairly calm about it.

The season starts in six days and our great club is on the up. Go Blues!

Hmmm....

I dunno DUC. I reckon Caro will leave us alone and look at the priority pick system as a whole (although perhaps a few snide references to Carlton in the article... and no mention of Richmond).

Fatprick will have an absolute blast though. The Price Fixer becomes Match Fixer means he can roll it all up into one. A pretty good take on what he'll write I'd say!

Stupid Story, Stupid pathetic man, waste of time.

I agree that Judd handled himself well, and I thought it was pretty rude to run the story on the same night that Judd had agreed to come on the show. At least they had the good sense to leave a gap between the 2 segments. I doubt Judd will be appearing on the show again any time soon.

What got under my skin was the way he said that he was surprised the young players got a game at the end of the season, that they didnt deserve to be selected, that they werent good enough, that they wouldnt have been selected if they were at any other team in the comp.

What a shitty situation to have your ex-coach come out and rubbish you on national TV and say that you only got a game because you were a loser. That is the lowest scum imaginable, no wonder Sunbury are sick of him. I hope Jamo and the rest have the good sense not to listen to a word he says
