Demetriou and Fitzpatrick on SEN now...

Hasn’t seen Libba interview, but has requested a transcript and read some snippets. If Tony Liberatore has a specific allegation the AFL invites him in to speak to AFL General Operations. If he puts a specific allegation forward the AFL will look into it.

Received a call from Greg Swann at 7:30 this morning, Swann said we will make ourselves available to anyone at the AFL to speak to our personnel, coaches and administration. Jabba said he respected Swann for getting on the front foot.

Again I invite Libba in to air a sepcifci allegation and if he does we will look into it.

The league will be unlikely to scrap the priority pick.

Given Libba has done interview on TFS, he can't see a reason why he wouldn't present his "specific allegation" to the AFL.

My God Demetriou is talking sense

Libba, the message is clear. PUT UP OR SHUT UP!

the thing is that last night he didn't have a specific allegation.
However, now he will probably invent one to try and save face.

That's a Demetriouesuqe type pot shot at Libba if I've ever heard it. I think Demetriou may think Libba got a good sum out of the interview. Then again i'm only guessing.

Robbo isn't married as far as I am aware.

I'm almost certain Rita is the partner of Age footy journo, Rohan Connolly.

If Libba knows what's good for him he won't make any "specific" allegations...

The Spew is shit scared of us now hence his talking sense approcach.

When he reamed us before we were honest with him about our situation so he know we wouldnt fight back .

The 2008 Carlton has the power to squash him like the worthless little slug he is.

We really do have alot to thank Mr Pratt for.

Yes, that's how I interpreted that comment as well.

IMO his choices are as follows:
1) Make a specific claim to the AFL, if he even has one
2) Publicly set the record straight in that it was wrong to come out on a public forum with no evidence other than "a feeling"
3) Point the finger at Hutchy for manipulating him, his comments and the whole interview

He's made his bed now. He can't just disappear.

This is where the lottery system falls.

It would have been feasible for teams like St Kilda or Freo to get the no 1 draft pick last year and that would have been patently unfair.
Getting rid of the priority pick is a better option

Had a scroll through the Herald Sun's readers comments. Most people supported what Carlton did and bagged Liberatore irrespective of what team they followed.

What I found most interesting was one person had seen Liberatore put a bet on the Carlton v Kangaroos match for the Kangaroos to win! Says something for his integrity!!

I'm predicting that this story will just fade away over the weekend and we'll start concentrating on playing and winning football games come Thursday.

Libba got his payout from C9, i doubt he'd want to take it much further.

Bring on Richmond!

That doesn't sound right because he such an honest person and that sort of thing doesn't sit well with him. :garthp:

If you have a lottery system for the bottom 4 teams, there is still the possibility of tanking. If you were 11th at the end of round 22 this year, no hope of playing finals, and by losing be able to finish 12th, get a gig in the lottery, and a shot at Natinui...what would you do?

Having a lottery with a final 8 would alleviate this, as the incentive to play finals would alomst certainly outweight the chance of a high draft pick. However, do we want the team finishing 9th to get pick 1? I don't.

I don't know how the system can be perfect. For me, the big issues is not finishing 16th instead of 15th, or 12th instead of 10th...although there will be isolated examples where this may be an issue, if there is one clear standout player. The issues is the priority pick, and it must go.

FWIW, and without trumping my own horn here, when the AFL made the most recent changes to the system, there was a thread on TalkingAFL about it. I said at the time that it wouldn't solve the problem, and that the issue would rear it's head again, and that the system would change again. And I don't think I am any genius for thinking this...it was blatantly obvious. You just have to wonder sometimes what's going on in the heads of Demetriou and Co. $1.4million a year and you can't see what's going on.

I didn't catch much of KB this morning but the one part that almost caused a laughing related accident was Smith's attempt to show how credible Libba is.

From memory:

"this is coming from a brownlow medalist"
"an upstanding member of the afl"
"someone who was in the rooms and part of the coaching panel"

then goes on to say that if someone like this having a "feeling" isnt evidence enough then he doesnt know what is.

Joe from Mill Park has more credibility then Libba.

Liberatore should soon realise, any asperations he may have of a return to AFL ranks in a coaching capacity, are dead and buried.
And he can thank Hutchison for that, Hutchisonn in his quest to manufacture a headline has been prepared to burn a very gullible Libba in the process.
Libba has made himself unwelcome not only at Footscray but now also at Carlton. Stupid, stupid man.
With friends like Libba, who needs enemas.

Did you notice the number of times Libba kept licking his lips last night.

Either he was nervous or hanging for the money from Hutchy.

Libba = Lizard

Hutchy (the worm) didn't hold a gun to Libbas head, lets not paint a picture of poor little libba getting manipulated
