They had to. This shit has to stop. They've set the standard for professionalism thus far, but the wankers just had to keep prodding.

From The Age article:
Quote:
"But if there's a situation where there's a guy who can wait until the end of the year to have an operation on his ankle or knee or whatever, something minor, but he can play and the decision's made let's put him out to pasture right away, I say they're doing the wrong thing."

So it's more important to run a possibly injured player into the ground in favour of trying younger, fitter players, Libba?

Shows why you were booted you know-nothing hack.

Which will be interesting to see considering the spew's constant denials through 2007 that tanking exists.

Besides, they already changed it once, f*cking us over in the process, too.

When I first heard the interview I was so angry. My hatred towards Libba grew in a matter of seconds.

I then sms'd a good friend of my disgust towards Libba. Being a supporter of another team, he put things into prospective and his response got me thinking.

I wasnt really pissed of at Liba. Lets face it, the guy aint too bright. Im just sick and tired of Carlton getting picked on by the media. This opens a whole new avenue for the media and we all know too well that when it comes to putting down a team like Carlton, theres no holding back.

There is no doubt that Carlton tanked. We are not the 1st and not the last. It's just our luck that we had to hire the guy who would be as foolish as to fall into a hungry journo at the wrong time.

When you think of tanking you think of Carlton. Not Essendon*, Collingwood or Hawthorn etc who are all just as guilty as we are.

So yeah, I think we have every reason to be upset.

Which is why I agree with the press conference tomorrow to put this shit to bed. A chance finally for the club to officially voice their disapproval and dismay at the way the club has been portrayed by people who feel they can say whatever defamatory statements they want about us with absolute impunity.

If he had any credibility at all I would be upset at this.

He's dug his own grave for any future involvement in the AFL, and Hutchy's probably dug one for any news out of Princes Park because veryone there will know who instigated this a week before 80k rock up to the G to see Judd's first game.

This won't be news after tomorrow.

I couldn't care less about what anyone says.

Our list was poor and probably still is , but better than last year i.e we had whitnall there.....nuff said

we have 42 players on our list or what ever the afl allows.

We can play any player who is listed. even if they are all 18 - 20 yr olds.

Its not our fault the afl rewards mediocracy. We are just playing by the rules  as the afl told us to after we got done for salary cap rorting.

So hutchy, libba and the media can go and get flowered.

Go the mighty blueboys.

We are CARLTON

FLOWER THE REST.

Tanking is a simplistic load of crap.

The system initiates and instigates cycles of achievement.
If you are successful, the system penalises you with later draft picks and conversely, it rewards teams that struggle.
It is only reasonable that clubs will find themselves in a constant transition between development and stability.
A transition that the AFL system intentionally creates!

Carlton were in a development phase last year. The development of players to ensure long term success did take precedence over short term success.
And so it bloody should have!

Its pointless playing injured or soon to be delisted players when you can be getting experience into your kids.
Players need to be developed. They dont just wake up one morning with poise, experience and composure. It takes time, patience and foresight.
It also requires youngsters to play before they are ready sometimes. Its the only way experience can be obtained.
And yes, sometimes they will take the spots of older, more experienced players.
They're the sacrifices you make when you are trying to build a platform for sustainable success.

If Libba cannot see the difference, he was over his head in the first place.

I think people have lost sight of how truly shite we really were.

You could argue that we were in fact MORE competitive over that last eight games due to bringing in the kids & their enthusiasm etc.

I think the first 5 weeks of the season will show that the quality of the list doesn't do a 180 turnabout in one season. Judd or no Judd I think we will struggle for a while yet.

Or maybe we'll tank the first half of this season to cover up last year's tanking...

How bitter can a person get?

I’ve been trying to work out why the little Judas has opened his mouth like he did. First he tried to stick it to the Doggies coz they wouldn’t give him a job; now he tries to bury us on a “vibe”. Why ….. coz we gave him the flick?

He obviously doesn’t have an appreciation of “CONSEQUENCES”

He’s flowered himself Big Time.

It should be an "entertaining" day tomorrow!!

Did anyone accuse us of tanking when we were smashed by Brisbane by 117 points?
Did those same people accuse us when we were smashed by the Saints and the Hawks?
FFS!
Of course they didn't - they gloated about how bad the once mighty Carlton had become after being belted for the same offences that other clubs (you know who I mean) had gotten away with.

All of a sudden Carlton stand to gain something from being at the bottom of the ladder (or thereabouts) and these same dog reporters crawl out of the gutter and say that we are deliberately losing?
Flower off!

Then tonight we have to sit through all the " I had a feeling" bullshit from a guy who was sacked as an assistant coach because he was crap.
Just to try and add credibility to the whole bullshit scenario, the piece of shit tries to claim (more than once) that he considers himself "a pretty honest type of guy" that was "embarrassed" and "offended" by us not winning?
FFS!

Does anyone remember the horrendous scratches, bite marks, gouges and bruising left by this "honest type of guy" on a young Ben Cousins because the same "Brownlow Medallist" didn't know how else to stop him?

Or the fact that this same "honest type of guy" pre-planned a gang attack on Michael Gardiner in his first game because he had big raps on him?

Flower off you little c__t!

I hope that you get what's coming to you from Pratt's legal team on behalf of not only the club, but the young players that you slagged off as not being good enough to play.
The little c__t didn't even have the guts to mention their names because he knew that what he had said amounted to nothing more than slander, so all the players that debuted under Ratts should launch a group action.

Hutchinson shouldn't be spared either for repeatedly leading and asking the same questions.
He would have been annihilated by any judge.

The Directive of the Blues would have been playing the kids and see how they play also any injuries players are no longer risked for lthe next year

This is done by all teams who cannot make the 8

So this little swine hope he gets flower sued the little prick no wonder we finally got rid of this waste of space

Why bother taking him to court to spend Millions to get a no result, when the money could be spent better on the club.I never liked the guy as one of our coach for our team, look how crap we were with him for years. He was a mistake just like Whitnall was as Captain and Signing up Ackland for 3 years by the look of things and having that big contract at that stadium that we can't play.

The guy can say what he thinks, but anyone really taking what he says is silly,it's his opinion and he is probably a bit bitter not being a coach. Why has he come out now,he could have come out when he was a coach if he had a problem.

The AFL can't do anything about it,if the season is shot any coach has a duty to the club, sponsers and members to blood new players and give them game time even if they a not fully ready and play some guys in new positions. I expect too see us and other club do it again if we are outer of the race.

What a load of trumped up crap.

Hard to belive that Hutchy won a walkley.

BTW Judd was magnificent :-D

Exactly, what really shits me is every freaking year before the start of our first game some [REDACTED] stuffs our preparation for our first game.If it's not unfortunate injuries, that can't be helped but a player playing up,it's some ex someone talking shit in the paper and the club defending itself while the club should all be preparing for the first game while the other club is on the upper hand focus ready to beat us.

Should be just ignored by Carlton. Holding a press conference about it only serves to acknowledge the idiocy, giving it some small amount of credibility.

Just walk away Blues.

....and subsidise the Sunbury football club operations for the next 12 months as an incentive to sack him.

...and get his ex-wife on next weeks Footy Show
