we've been getting the media preseason pump up for years. 04' it was the saviour in Stevens, 05' it was the dynamic duo of Fev and Lance with Stevo hitting them lace out, 06' was a revitialised Kouta and the wonder kid Murphy, 07' was the revitalised Lance and the coming together of 2 #1 picks. The stats read that every journo who has said we're turning the corner has ended with a shite load of egg on their face, so you can't blame them for being wary of summer excitement.
It's also that with the exception of our midfield, and Fev, the rest of our team is an unknown quantity to people outside the club. They don't know about Jamison, Hampson, Edwards, Hartlett etc, other than what they've seen this pre-season.
As for the scum, the fact is they still have the senior players in key positions that we don't have. The perception is that it'd be far easier to build around the Fletcher/Michael/Watson/Lucas/Lloyd spine than what we have.
