Those in for Rd1 for me. Scotto, Judd and Carrats in the middle provide some hard grunt, balling winning ability, creativity and experience. Steveo out wide in some space to create with his hard running. Simmo to run and carry off HB. Houls to hit the leads from Fev and Jake.

Grigg, Jacko and Armfield deserve a chance based on pre-season effort and their current footy. Bannister can tag or play back.

Those to miss for me

Setanta appears underdone and needs some more work but if selected could take Bannister's spot.
Betts is struggling
JR is struggling to find the footy
Pfeiffer I just can't find a spot in the 22 infront of the rest. Has done very little wrong.

Bannister should not play a game for us this year. If he does then we are most definitely going down the wrong track. Otherwise I like it.

You are possibly right but my theory is that in the 1st game of the year there can be plenty of players underdone. Banno has his faults but he hasn't missed a training session so he is superfit and very strong. He is versatile and not a bad option coming off the bench in 5-10 minute bursts to rest a creative player to act as a tagger. He is quicker than Pfeiffer and a bigger body.

I think he is worth a look early in the year.

Pretty much agree with Caz's team.

Tho I think it's 1 of Betts/Armfield - as both play the defensive forward role as well as anyone. Betts slightly better as a goal sneak, but I have a feeling Judd may play a few mins at FF.

Then it's 2 of Pfieffer, Bannister, Jackson. Bannister is the most felxible and can play almost anywhere. Jackson is our best optioon for a run with tagger. Pfieffer may get a game now Walks is out, particularly as another attacking option if Armfield gets a run.

Now I know the great Kruezer has had a good PS, but playing a first gamer and a 196cm part timer in the ruck is certainly an area of weakness. Any chance of a surprise Jacobs selection?

Thank god we are only playing Richmond. Hopefully we can kick a few early and they become a rabble.

Barak we definately agree here on that.

Cazz im glad you clarify your reasons as it makes sense when taking time to digest.

I would have swapped Bower with Tbird as I believe TB is more composed on the last line and the HBF allows Bowers to be more natural and attack.

However in hindsight you appear hell bent on winning and as such Tbird is more reliable and the BP will definately teach Bower to be more accountable.

If fully fit would you have Carlos and Walks in the starting line up and where.

I would allow Setanta first crack at FB depending on the opponent and Walks off the HBF.

Interested in your thoughts.

Betts may not be in the best form, but he's important for our structure. He's the only natural small forward on our list (which is the hardest position to play in footy). As long as his work-rate remains at a high level, he should be in the side IMO.

Other than that, good looking side.
