Jezza I take your point but my take is a little bit different. I am not so much looking at players flying in the off season but more at other factors which I think differentiates this year from previous onesw. First i think that we have picked up some quality players who will make a major contribution to our team from the outset. Obviously CJ but also Hadley and the return of Stevo. Second we have some quality kids who we can reasonably expect to step up this year - Murphy and Gibbs are the obvious ones. Then there are the 2nd and 3rd tier players That I mentioned earlier some of whom have been in the system for a couple + years now and we can reasonably expect some of these to step up. Sure I'm wearing my blue specs but I nevertheless think this year will be different. I remember a comment being made last year (?) about the difference between the bottom and top sides being a couple of players.

If you've still go the tape, then go back and have a look. Watch the hard ball gets and watch the attack on the footy. There will be several occasions he'll get the ball that I bet you won't have noticed the first time through the tape... they were so clean and quick that it was over in an instant. Sure he didn't own the ball like he did against Port, but he brings that hardness to the team we don't otherwise have. Oh... and while you're having a look... watch Pfeiffer monster Jordan Lewis away from Hadley when Lewis decided to push Hadley's face into the dirt.

I just wish the discussion wasn't about how to fit one Darren Pfeiffer into the squad for round one, but how to fit about four or five Darren Pfeiffers into the squad for round one!

sure, every year we are getting wet in our little panties about how much competition there is for spots and blah blah blah...but this year there are a substantial amount of players who will inevitably miss out, but could and should certainly be playing at AFL level. our midfield has the most depth ive seen in 6 or 7 years; granted, alot of these guy are still under 21...but once you enter the AFL system, it doesnt matter how old you are...when u walk out onto that field you are equally as accountable as the next bloke. time to stop hiding behind excuses...we have a great list...now lets show the rest of the competition just how good we can be...

IMO the quality of this year's bottom six are to the equal quality of our middle six last year who would have been regular starters

That's the difference as the last six picked each week are 'quality developing players', and ......... the next five or six are around the mark which is why we finally have decent competition for spots in the team

I think this will fuel a rapid improvement

Competition from within will inspire a competative nature throughout the club and onto the field in games

Quality post molly. Pfieffer sets a terrific example in his attack on the ball. Will become a key mid in years to come. We need more of his type.

They probably wont sell a record - does anyone have an easily accesible list of numbers for recognition purposes? With all the young blokes running around, i doubt i'll know who is who.

for instance, I hear there's this new bloke wearing no. 5 :shock:

Agree 1000%. Jacko a must for the 22. Runs all day, hard at it, clean skills, can kick a goal, can find his own footy and take a GOOD player out at the same time (e.g. Harvey). And, he's a natural footballer, too. Geez, we must have a 2008 Flag list is this guy can't get a run!
