hey, dad's got a copy of that video as well! havent watched it in yonks. it was a very well done tape.

you know what else id love to see the club market? when i was in New York mid last year a number of sports shops and NY yankees merchandise retailers sold navy blue t-shirts with the yankees monogram on the left breast and then on the back a players name and number. you could get current players as well as legends. they were really well done and simple/cheap enough for the club to make/market and sell en masse. imagine a "GIBBS 4" sitting on shelf next to "KERNAHAN 4", or Fev and Jezza, "williams 2", "dominator 7", "doull 11" or whatever...id buy a couple for sure. plenty of people walking around NY had "jeter 2" or "mantle 7" or di maggio and gehrig etc and theyre a basic enough shirt to pretty much go with anything. i think you'd find quite a few people wearing them at the games too. they could retail for around $30, i reckon theyd fly of the shelves.

That's actually a pretty good idea.

sort of, don.

its just a plain navy blue t-shirt. not an actual baseball shirt but a stock standard navy blue t-shirt with the monogram on the front and then the player and their number on the back.

thats it. if anything the monogram is a tad bigger but yeah, thats the idea.

i have thought for some time this is a great bit of merch. its simple, its effective, it looks good, its a way of celebrating the clubs great players and history and its affordable for pretty much everyone.

id considered writing an e-mail to club some time ago, right after i got back in july, but didnt know who to address it to and how to best get the point across. then time went by and i forgot about it. but its pleasing to see other people would be interested in it.

I think the baseball idea could work too, but they'd be a bit more pricey. Or one of those old-fashioned kind of bowling shirts.

I was over there in September last year. I couldn't leave without buying this one...

It was a bottomless pit of one-liners that went unappreciated. I actually had to explain to this one bloke what i was on about...

Nah, nice and simple is the ticket. As it is Nike or someone would wnat their $30 worth of logo on a plain shirt, taking the price to $50 most likely.

Navy, simple white lettering. Perfect!

The proper Yankees ones go for about $180 actually. But then again, they're the @#$%&! Yankees, they can do what they want.

love the idea of the name/number on the back of casual t-shirts... alot of EPL clubs do that as well, but instead of the players real name, will have their nicknames.

For example, I got a Torres one... on the back it has No.9 and instead of Torres, it has "El Nino". And the Fowler one has his No.9 but with "God" on the back. Steven Gerrards has "Stevie G" etc etc etc. They are also quality fitted t-shirts with insignia relating to LFC on the front (this case a big liver bird with 5 stars around it), i wear them out clubbing! Would love a navy blue one with no.5 "Chrissy" or no.25 "Shag".

i think we should contact the club and attempt to get the wheels in motion. as has been said theyre a simple, tidy idea, by the nature of the shirt they go with absolutely everything (well, almost) and are a great/cost effective way of supporting your favorite players past and present and the club. they could sell at home games in the membership tents, theyd make an absolute killing.

OK, so I tuned in late due to not actually reading everything on here until days when new posts are slow....
But - remember the "Fightback" shirts of the other year?? "It's my club, it's Personal" ???They were a decent quality shirt that was non-Nike and in my opinion would suit the concept pitched....

If we could do it before with no issue on supplier, surely we could do it again, and pretty much cut out the middle man??

All you connected people need to drive this!! :)

Do the same with the caps while your at it

a plain navy blue hat with the monogram on the front ala yankees as well

AND MAKE IT A FLEXFIT CAP like all the popular baseball caps not the crappy velcro or plastic adjustable rubbish.
