I think this game is very important to organise our forward and defensive structures for round 1. IMO i think we still haven't got any closer to working out what are our best options are for both the key forward and defensive posts.

I think that Ratts plan was to play every player in the pre season comp to give those that feel theyt haven't been given a chance when they were due some confidence that this will not happen under Ratts.

Sorting out who will play where is what season 2008 is all about. I think that the Ratts will use this year as a platform to settle the side into some regular positions and if someone is not performing in that position after a decent go, then someone else will be given a go. This is important because we haven't really done this with our list and are suffering for it.

I think that Waite will be given a post up forward and perhaps Carlos too, this will give Fev some support and having 2 tall athletic forwards will put opposition defences under great pressure.
Bower, Grigg, Jamison or even Sake could build a defensive unit lead by Hoops, Scotland and Thornton. It will be a bit of hit and miss, but whoever we pick must be played together for most of the season regardless of the outcomes. They must learn each others strength and weaknesses and be supportive of each other.
The only expectation I have of this season is that by the end of it, we will know who will be our FB, CHB, Ruckman and CHF.
Oh and I hope that Betts along with others are made to earn their spots, because with all the things I didn't like about Pagan, the one that grates me the most is that as poor as we were, we had to many walk up start players that didn't earn their spots and guys that should have been given a go weren't, DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN RATTS.

Seeing as Ratts has said aite will be our CHB for the year, I can't see him spending too much time up front unless there is a major rething at the 11th hour and 59th minute by him.
Also, Having Houlihan in the back half is not using him as best we can. I think most of us agree that he should play wing/fwd/midfield before playing anywhere near the backline.

Probably depends how they pull up from training early in the week...
Its probably more important for Judd to play then Stevo, as Juddy needs a hit out before the serious stuff starts...

I am taking Junior on Friday. Its going to be interesting how many people will rock up. My guess is about 5000 due to the stupid timing. If it were a Sat or Sun afternoon 10-15 K would attend....

Don't know about Friday but the Hun is almost writing Juddy off for the first game:

Mike Sheahan:
They start with Carlton, with Judd either not playing or playing probably no more than 50 minutes. No better time to get the Blues.
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 42,00.html

and again
Cartlon's boom recruit Chris Judd is no certainty to play against Richmond on March 20

The last quote I heard from this was at the end of last week when Judd himself in an interview followed by Swanny on SEN said he was looking to play against the Dogs.

Don't see any reason to believe otherwise based on a couple of lazy, speculative lines.

There was actually a quote from Judd in the hun yesterday where he joked about his groin and said "Hopefully I'll be right for round 22" or words to that effect. Frankly I'm amazed we didn't suddenly get a flood of "OMG JUDDS NOT GONNA PLAY AT ALL THIS YEAR OMG!!!"

Incidentally, what would be the best time to get there? I'm thinking around 3:30, but would it be better to go earlier?

Training tomorrow arvo should tell us if we can expect to see Judd and Stevens on the paddock come Friday. I for one am of the opinion that if passed fit by the medicos - both should play a half each.
