Maclure's got a big heart but is as slow as an ox and will never play more than a handful of games.

2001 when SOS Kouta and Bradley pulled out for the first game against Essendon*: Called my mate and told him to go put $100 on the bombers to beat us by 39.5+ cause we have NO CHANCE! Vance played well as did Massie, this never happened again. (me beating on Essendon* that is)

John Hynes will be the key to backline in years to come, looks good.

Why did all those clubs let Thorpe go???? He'd just kicked 7 in a preseason game.

On Hamill, Carlton never lose players they want to keep.

If you measured both players by $$$ paid and output for their respective clubs it is not so embarrassing after all

I never forget an interview they did with Sam Cranage in "Inside Carlton" Magazine.

Probably the usual run of the mill question he was asked about what parts of his game he was working on.

"Focusing on my pace, strength and skills."

Other than that I think Sam had this football caper licked.

Trent Sporn will be the best of the players Carlton picked in the 2000 draft. :(

Andrew Merrington is a mobile tall forward after he picked himself and the ball up off the deck to kick a great goal on the run in the ressies.

I think I said that to a Bombers fan before the only game Mezza played against Essendon*.

That was the year after Sporn and Merrington tied for the 2001 Reserves Best and Fairest and were our best young players.

Prendergast has the best running style I've seen and is a better athlete than Croad after he ran away from him in his debut game to take a mark.

No football brain.

You need a stiff drink before you look at the duds who played for Carlton between 2001 and 2003. :(

Ditto to the Trent Sporn prediction

"James Cook will be the next Kernahan".

Aaron Hamill will win a brownlow one day - around 1997.

Ricky Mott will be our no one ruckman by seasons end - whatever shameful year that was.

i thought fev would crack the ton last season.

thought murray vance would be a gem after his first game - 5 kicks, 5 inside 50's.

Adam White will be a great senior player (1995)
Why did we get Adrian Hickmott - he's a geelong softie (1996)
We dont rebuild at Carlton, we renovate (hang on that wasnt me)
Lance Whitnall will kick more goals in his career than Sticks (1998)
We would have won the premiership if it wasnt for injuries, we'll be there next year (2001)
Brendan Fevola has really matured, I think he might have grown up (post winning Norm Smith - about a month before he decked an irish barman)

I don't think i questioned why we recruited him, but I certainly shared the view he was soft

Great thread this. This post just made me think of another one - day of 99 preliminary final: "Our chances are about as much as Brack's...."

Melbourne Storm played in the NRL Grand Final on the Sunday as well.

I remember being in the carpark at the MCG before our game and thinking we don't have much chance, either do the Storm tomorrow, but at least Kennett will still be Premier.

didn't France knockover New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup Semi that weekend as well?

I thought the NRL GF was the weekend after. I remember being happy that the storm won as a small consolation for losing to the roos the day before :?

I think mine hasn't happened yet. But unless JR comes on in a hurry my predictions of him being a star will fit into this thead nicely.

The duds between 2003-2006 arent any better (Kenna, Croad, Mott, Harford, Deluca, Longmuir, Chambers, Martyn, Bowyer etc...)
