and I get the feeling we are not going to showcase our exact side for all the world to see - not for the NAB.

That list of omissions is quite impressive, BB! Either we're not putting too much into it this year or, if we do well, it's a key to something huge in the real season .. do we know why these guys (except JUDD) have been kept on ice?

walker and ackland are still coming back from injury, i'm not sure about setanta, bentick and anderson? harttlet had a setback? benji had slight injury. Judd is not yet ready and the rest simply didn't make the cut i guess.

blackwell is going to be up against it this year i think.
our midfield depth seems to have improved with judd, hadley and pfeiffer

Yes and Carlton has room for 2 nominated rookies in 2008 meaning that another of the Rookies can play senior football, if nominated. 'Mike & Dan' got to speak to David Ellard yesterday who was talking about his aim to be the nominated rookie.

There were other threads in the past that talked about a timetable for this, and that we were passed that timetable, but Ellard definitely thought the spot was still open.

Didn't Melbourne nominate Davey AFTER his nab (or whatever it was called that year) cup performances in the year he was rookie drafted? So maybe before round 1 is the cut off???

I said this in another thread but i will say it again.

Don't read to much into Setanta not playing. He might be sore, he might have personal commitments, he might be through to the next round of 'so you think you can dance'. you dont know.... dont speculate.

Even if ratten didnt think that Setanta hasn't got what it takes (which i HIGHLY doubt) im sure he would prefer to play a 24yo 200cm potential nightmare for opposition fowards and give him every chance to make it, then someone like Saddo, a 192ish average type who we have plenty of, all being 10 years younger.

Barring injury, Setanta will play every game this year.... no question... and he will do very well.

Be one of the first picked in my team, I'd be surprised if Ratten doesnt rate him and dissapointed....he must be injured or have another good reason for not playing...

Ellard looked good in the SA game. A few performances and he might make that last NR spot his own.

Not enough facts and too many unanswered questions to be forming an opinion on Setanta's current status.

What IS fact is that he remains my favourite current day bluebagger :-D

Very weak side named by Port.

No Cornes/Burgoyne/Lade.

I don't know who their key defenders will be... anyone got any idea?
