I had a nightmare.

Fast forward to the year 2020.

Murphy, Gibbs, Walker, Kreuzer are all retiring. They got close to playing in a premiership so many times. Once within 1 goal. We made three grand finals and two preliminary finals, but could never snag the premiership. With those four retiring the experts were predicting we would have to bottom out to rebuild our list, and our next premiership opportunity would be at least 5 years away. It was 2020 and everyone was thinking about the painful grand final losses and how those four players wouldn't join the pantheon of Carlton legends to play in premierships. They would still be Carlton legends, just without the customary premiership medallions. Funnily enough the eight wins in 2008 didn't come up that much.

That is one of the most insecure ramblings I have ever made the mistake of reading.

If you honestly believe we will not pick up any more good footballers over the next few years you are kidding yourself........

We're going to struggle if we don't have top two or three picks and Wayne Hughes is our recruiter.

FF you should know by now BO is happiest when he is moaning and complaining. Some people are just wired that way. The simple fact is I doubt he is ever happy unless he can bring everyone else down to his level of despair.

Ah yes, some criticism directed at Hughes and along comes Comrade Cazzesman to the defence. You just keep defending Wayne Hughes' position at the expense of the long term success and premiership opportunities of our club.

Why don't you just do us all a favor and keep it simple. Instead of finishing off everyone of your posts with a not so subtle dig at WH and/or the need for CFC to tank in 2008, why don't you just create a 'signature' outlining your opinions and leave it at that.

That way you get your 'Party political broadcast' on display at the bottom of each post and as an added bonus to the rest of us, perhaps you can write something half interesting, stimulating and worthwhile in the body of the post.

Regards Cazzesman

Geelong won last year but they were very lucky under the father son rule.
(Consider Ablett, Scarlett Hawkins waiting in the wings too, all three number 1 draft picks).
Yo uneed draft picks/concessions to win premierships these days. It's the way the system works.

West Coast had some extremely good recruiting (which we don't seem to have).

It definetly seems that way about barrak o' bla bla Cazz....

You just can't judge most of the players we have recruited at this stage, the majority of them are under 21!!!

i assume friday the teams will be announced.
BLUE BEATLE;
i agree there is no room for thornton, but bannister in your team? plays two good games per year on the same two players, very much the mark bolton type.
i hope austin, ewards, anderson, ellard, browne, grigg, russell etc etc all play before bannister!!!!!!!
wiggins, bannister, bentick and thornton would be very lucky to get a game at any other club.[hawks can have thornton for a slab]

I think Wayne Hughes should be made to line up at FF on the weekend - let's see what he's made of.

i agree with you. sammy should always play before Ackland.
with the likes of hampson coming on and cloke and kreuzer its going to be tuff for sammy. also with aisake o'hailpin pushing for a game maybe he should be pushing for a forward spot?

No no no, can you please clear away that logic. Hampson/Aisake/Kreuzer are developing, we can't throw them in the ruck yet, we'll lose contests as their bodies aren't ready. Ackland may have the least potential by the size of a Denis Pagan thrashing out of all of them, but for this year at least he is the best placed to ensure we are not beaten in the ruck. And this is very important this year as we must go for eight wins to satisfy supporters who deserve eight wins after so many years of suffering.

Did you watch Ackland ever? I don't recall him winning a single ruck contest.

BO is partially right. Either Ackland or Cloke need to play, but its more to protect the bodies of the younger ruckmen, not because he's more likely to win a ruck contest.

Fair point there. But he's saying it in the hopes we lose ruck contests, therefore clearances and as a result, matches.

As someone who is riding the highs and lows of a tightly contested Democratic primary battle and a very vocal supporter of the real Barack Obama, I would recommend to the mods that the TC version of Barack Obama be asked to change his name. The real Barack Obama has a positive message and appeals to people's hopes. From what I can tell, he bears no resemblance to the Barack Obama that masquerades on TC.
