Despite the searing African sun, the Blues ran solidly for a couple of hours.

All the Blues’ assistants played a significant role in training with Mark ‘Bomber’ Riley especially relishing his work with the young Carlton kids.

Matthew Kreuzer perhaps looked a little taller again, Andrew Carazzo was in great nick, however, Cain Ackland, who is continuing his rehab from shoulder surgery, didn’t partake in much of the ball work.

A couple of players made their way past the media contingent throughout the two-hour session but only one stopped to chat to us .

That player was Chris Judd.

It was interesting that, after our brief conversation, a silence seemed to descend on the media group for 10 or 20 seconds.

He had only stopped to say ‘gday boys’ and briefly chew the fat about South Africa and our experiences.

Little did Juddy know, he had just added to ours. I guess even us footy journos can be a little awestruck from time to time.

From the AFL site on one of their hacks travelling in SA - that story is GOLD. :-D

But it's OK for your club to make a mint selling tours to the toothless ones via Pies travel.

Pies fans won't find any VB, UDL, Holiday 50s and Centrelink branches in Dubai.

Looks like Juddy is doing skill work from the photos.

There was footage on the CH 10 News tonight of the training; and an interview with Ratts....ditto on Ch 7....they both have reporters over there.

Ratts said that Judd won't play until the second NAB Cup game at the earliest; and that we will see a definite change in our playing style this year.

Kreuzer looks a real athlete the way he covers the ground so easily; 'tho he still has a boyish physique which was plain to see as a lot of the boys were stripped to the waist in the searing heat.

Does anyon know how many players are allowed to be selected for this game? I'm assuming it's an extended interchange, but even so an awful lot of the guys will be sitting on the sidelines. Or is everyone allowed to have a run at some stage?

30 is a good number for an exhibition match. That would mean about a dozen miss out...and a few of them have their injury concerns.

It's sounds particualry hot in South Africa, so I suppose we will be playing shortened quarters too, maybe 20 minutes with no time on.

Think I might head to the pub on Thursday morning and knock the top of a few frothies whilst watching the replay. Sweet!

There was pic with this article of Judd holding hands with a couple of little kids at the HIV/AIDS clinic. Couldn't upload tho.

It made me sad to read that the clinic has so many deaths a week.
