Can anyone explain why overseas people are excluded from all telstra content? I'm in the UK and couldn't view the videos of draftees, it said I had to sign up to bigpond. Kinda pointless really, even if it weren't for the fact that I've had to deal with Telstra in the past and will never, ever buy an internet connection from them again, but I'm pretty sure they don't offer connections in the south of England.

They charge something like $60 a year just to view the AFL videos for anyone overseas. So it is not an internet connection, just access to their videos.

Yes, it is ridiculous.

If I click the join bigpond link that appears when it blocks me from viewing videos, it doesn't offer the international access thing, just all their broadband plans. I refuse to give Telstra any money anyway. The video quality of the streaming video is too poor to make it worthwhile anyway.

Don't blame you. The whole situation with the AFL videos and Telstra/Bigpond is really something the ACCC should be looking into.

Online shop is still deplorable though. Thought they would have fixed this up by now, very very amateur if you ask me. We have 600,000+ supporters around australia with majority not being within cooee of a carlton shop yet we have a site that treats what should be a major revenue generator as an advertisement for amateurism.

I guess the AFL would be happy, as they get more return for people going to department stores or AFL shops around the country

Otherwise the website is A LOT better than it was :-D

Information on the website has improved, but the site itself is still a shocker. A pain in the arse to navigate through and takes too long to download. I know we are bound by the Telstra contract, but whenever the next version is built, they'll have to concentrate of making the website much more user friendly.

I've heard that the site will undergo another major revamp around March. Not exactly sure what that means at the moment, but will endeavour to find out.

What they need to do is copy old articles across to the new website.

When I click on links for the 10 minutes with a player interviews or other articles, the articles and interviews are gone.

Adding oldwebsite to the url no longer works.

A pathetic effort from "the official website" when it's a record of the achievements of our club and it's players.

they need an archive - a suggestion is to copy the articles to the Blueseum with references to the original sources

It's disappointing, isn't it? They were doing so well up to just past draft day and then over the break it just all goes quiet and old articles just vanish.

The site revamp seems to be extensive - whether that is 'better' I can't say but they seem to have wiped the Contributor archives and there is going to be a new data storage framework behind the scenes. I'm checking whether that is permanent but it does make it hard to research your favourite players, as the more passionate fans may do this time of year.

Generally, I think carlton communications go abit quiet this time of year as they think the fans arent really there. Complicating that is the overseas trip which takes organisational time, but how hard is it to add player profiles for new recruits and the membership meter? Equally, 'Mike & Dan' has offered to start up the interviews on a weekly basis at this stage and 2 Blueseum articles were provided and never went anywhere....

Wangers, good suggestion. I think long-run the Blueseum should be a repository of not just volunteer articles but maybe game reviews in pdf form from one or all of the newspapers, so that when say in 2012 we want to look back at Round 1, 2008 and reminisce over Judd's first game we can see what the herald-sun, what the Age, what the fans etc. all thought. At the bottom of each game summary would be a link to the story archived on Jarusa's system (!). NB This is 'steve's idea. Then the Blueseum is exactly what it needs to be - a source of information from the time.

I mean, we've gone back to 1906-1907 and pulled up the ARgus to tell the stories of our Premierships, why can't we do that from today's date going forward and then just hope that young whipper-snappers can take up the lead from the site and start to fill in 1907 - 2007 with articles and summaries of EVERY GAME EVER??!?!?

Everytime the revamp the site it becomes more telstraised and hard to navigate.

Yes 'revamp' is the wrong word. 'Flower with it' may be better?

I think its natural for the more fanatic fans to get annoyed at the club site at this time of year because we are yearning for more information, and never is enough. But then again, its very easy to do the simple things right and the site isn't really telling us anything at the moment. Those Sportal (or whoever they are now) are mindless (or is that just disdain that the professionals get paid to deliver dribble?).

KK, as you know we've talked about that over the years and from my side I don't think that line washes anymore, if it ever did; there's 4-5 of them now in there and resources aren't the issue.

Gather this is still taking place in March. There will be more columns (?) and 5 Carlton related boxes, one of which is a direct link to the Blueseum which is good for those guys : )

The Club is aware of the missing players and provided info to the managers of the site some time ago.

The Club advised that the Contributor articles are not removed, just a bit harder to find at the moment but they will be part of the restructure.

Blueseum will be presenting Who Am I's and the occasional article (although many of the Writing Crew from 2007 have retired) and Mike & Dan has a contract offer on the table but not sure about the others.
